They have a history. In Matsuzaka-sans first year in Japanes ball he faced Ichiro, the first game wasnt pretty...for Ichiro.

Ichiro did get some revenge but he looked silly more often then not.

usually the pitchers "win" seeing as batting 30% is considered very good.xcoolxIchiro is the better PROVEN player, Matsuzaka has got a ways to go before he can be on the Ichiro level.

Yea but great players like Ichiro dont strike out 3 times in a row...Strike that he did again today against Josh Beckett :p

yes he worked hard in the offseason and fixed his fast ball mentality and is using more off speed stuff
I have him down as a preseason 21 game winner

Good pitching usually beats good hitting. But, Ichiro has a good eye, and Daisuke's control is iffy. Just don't swing at the bad pitches.:)

easier said then done. And what u may call bad pitches are prolly thrown there intentiaonally to enduce the swing :p

how about that game last year against the yanks where he got shelled for something like 7 ER in 1 1/3 innings

he was getting adjusted to a new league. His perfomance will be much better this year.
Pedro Martinez gave up 7 ER in 3 innings in 2002 home opener.
Derek Lowe gave up 7ER in 2 innings in 2003
Bronson Arroyo gave u 9 runs in 3.1 innings in 2004
Are they all horrible too?>

Well then, let's open up the history books and go back to 2003 in the WS when Beckett had a sparkling 1.10 ERA vs NYY , 19 strikeouts in 16 innings pitched while giving up only 8 hits.
Beckett posted 15 wins in 2005, 16 wins in 2006. Shouldn't be a problem getting 20 wins this year.

I hate when people say that, I've always loved A-rod if it weren't for him the yankees the last two years probably wouldnt have won the Al East. batting 280. with 35 home runs and 120 RBIs isnt bad.

We will see how long that sentiment lasts. J.D. has worn out his welcomes pretty quickly in places like Los Angeles and St. Louis. You can have him.
