SHSU hires 'coach of the decade'

The Sam Houston golf program has been without a head coach for more than two months. But by waiting, SHSU director of Athletics Bobby Williams landed a good one.
Friday, Sam Houston State announced the hiring of Mike Dirks to lead the SHSU golf program.
Dirks directed the University of Houston men's golf team to four NCAA Division I top 10 national finishes and five Conference USA championships in 10 years with the Cougars.
For the past two years, Dirks has served as director of Eagle Golf Instruction in Friendswood, but was ready to get back into college athletics.
