Braves in the top spot, Met's chasing, Philly's underachieving. Same story, different year.
Every sports writer in the country picked NYM and Philly to win the division and the wildcard. I just love how the Braves started out the season by stopping squarely on their collective faces.
The Marlins are a ton better than I give them credit for. Let's see if ATL can sweep ole Washington out of the stadium and open ourselves up a lead.

Uh, SI had the Mets winning the division and the Braves coming in 2nd - had the Phils 3rd. And how is the Braves in the top spot the same story just different year? Did they win the NL East last year? Being a Braves fan, I'm sure you probably just didn't notice. xlolx

11 straight NL East titles - no one won anything in 1994 and the Braves were in the West before then.

A potentially good Phillies team has declared itself the team to beat, the Braves want the NL East title back, and the Mets want to keep that title. It will be a great race.

I just don't see the Met's pitching keeping up the torrid pace they have had the first week of the season. There bats are most certainly there, but like the Yankees and Red Sox prove year after year, you can't win with just hitting.
I told my buddy last night that this division, strangely, will probably come down to who can beat the National's the most times. :)

Mets lineup is scary.
Braves are 5-1 with questionable 1, 7, and 8 spot in the order. Not too happy with number 4 in the lineup, either.
Bullpen, bullpen, bullpen. That's the name of the game this year for the Bravos. Feeling of calm in the ninth now instead of a feeling of dread.

All will depend on their starting pitching and the health of the bullpen. The lineup is more than fine, but after Glavine they don't have a proven, dependable starter. El Duque will grow tired of the regular season and start saving it up for October when he gets serious, Maine is okay but not much more, and there's nothing after that. And the bullpen needs to stay healthy, especially after losing a guy like Sanchez. The Braves will win enough to stay close and could take it at the end. My Phils, on the other hand, will suck until June or July, then make a valiant effort just to fall a game or two short of the wildcard at the end. Oh joy.

you obviously dont know much about the braves because for the first time in a long time... the braves bullpen is not a question mark this year

Hampton's now done for the season...
I forget what Hampton looked like on the mound. Many assumed that he would come back full strength, but that was probably a long shot. Personally, I'd rather keep the ball in Davie's hands.

Mets fan here. Braves certainly had a nice start and I was surprised to see most sportswriters totally forget about them in their pre-season predictions now that they have that re-tooled bullpen....actually I'm not that surprised as most sportswriters are idiots. :D
The Braves bullpen improvements + avoiding the injury bug should definitely keep them in it till the end.
Looking forward to the rest of the season...I still think you guys are going to have a tough time with my team especially if Pedro can come back and pitch like Pedro and Mota can come back in June and be the 7th inning guy the Mets need in their pen right now (Heilman threw 42 freakin pitches on Sunday ~ We don't need that.).

that still means the phillies sucked and haven't won it for at least that long. Your point?
