(49)Georgetown University

I would assume that the vast majority of that comes from Basketball. In fact, I would bet that sales jumped quite a bit this year after the hiring of John Thompson III.

7 of the top 12 from the $EC. Interesting... Aren't there more WalMarts in the southeast?????

I doubt the Wal-mart thing is as much a factor as general fan support.. The SEC has 7 teams in top 16 in average attendance in I-A, so that should tell you why they also happen to be the best sellers among merchandise.

(33.) Texas Tech University
(69.) Texas State University
(76.) Sam Houston State University

Gag me at #3, the whole state is obsessed anyway.

I'm kinda surprised Tech is that high, maybe the colors and logo have alot to do with it.

I'm REALLY surprised that TxSt and Sam are that high on a national list of all schools. I definately figured all of the DI-A football playing schools in Texas would be higher than us or Sam, just for the sheer fact of exposure. Well except for SMU. Either way that is FREAKIN awesome.

That is pretty cool. I wonder why A&M is not even on the list...unless I overlooked them???

Nope gay&m isn't on the list. Unless they aren't a member of CLC. They probably think they are too good for CLC too.

Virginia Tech isn't on that list either.........the list is not accurate, because there is no way that JMU outsells VT in terms of merchandise

I think that there are some schools that arent members of CLC. Tha would explain the lack of major schools. I don't think I saw Miami (FL) on that list either.

I noticed U of Oregon was not on there, but I am guessing Nike has something to do with that.

Sales actually declined; Georgetown was #44 last year. I think that's more of an issue with the Carolina blue jerseys pushed by Nike than on the coach's hiring.

At least football has the colors straight!

Nike has nothing to do with it.. This list is for the top selling schools that have their licensing handled through Collegiate Licensing Company.. This applies to all merchandise, not just uniforms and coach apparel.

Neither Oregon or Oregon State are members of CLC nor is Texas a&m..

Is the SWAC handled by this group?

It's nice to see some I-AA schools on the list, especially the ones selling their football programs (Montana,Delaware,JMU).

Yeah, what's up with that? My wife came home with a Carolina blue golf shirt for me; it simply has "Georgetown" printed in block letters. It is a high quality shirt, but it looks strange. Still deciding whether to keep it...it was sold at the campus book store.
