The Chargers are dealing with four suitors for backup running back Michael Turner, sources said, and Turner's agent has spoken with at least one of those teams in hopes of getting a long-term deal done.
Buffalo, Dallas, Tennessee and the New York Jets have shown interest in acquiring the restricted free agent. All appear willing to part at least with a first-round draft pick, but sources indicated the Chargers are still seeking two picks – in the first and third rounds.

I hope we don't give him up for anything less than a 1st. He's more than just LT's back up. He does a great job as a KR too.

who needs turner to return kicks when you have Darren Sproles? the shortest guy in the league! but also the damn near quickest. xnodx

Well lets see Turner's numbers are 26.5yards/return and Sproles are 24.3yrds/ret. Which are both good numbers.
Turner is a better back than Sproles though.

Turner could be the lead back anywhere he wants to go... he was the best backup in the league last year... unfortunately for him he was behind the best back in the league as well... I hope he lands with a good team doesnt get injured!

And the Chargers get enough compensation for him. We've got the cap space to keep him this year. I'm guessing they'll take a back on day 2 of the draft as well.

Some of the reporting in that article seems a little out of date. The Jets were interested in Turner awhile ago and it made sense since Schottenheimer knows him well, but there is no way the Jets would still be interested after stealing Thomas Jones from the Bears. Jones, Washington & Houston is a solid enough backfield. No need to add Turner to the mix.
A move like this makes sense for the Bills or Titans. Not so sure about the Cowboys...

The best backup in the league last year was Ladell Betts. He put up amazing numbers when Portis was hurt.

Turner: 80 carries, 6.3/carry, 2 TDs
Betts: 245 carries, 4.7/carry, 4 TDs
I'd take the Burner

I can sort of see that as he is a different type of runner than both Droughns and Jacobs. I never really understood why the Giants brought in Droughns to begin with actually. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Giants draft a smallish, quick running back late that can turn the corner.

My cheap ass Packers need to get Turner. I don't know why Dallas and NY Jets need him they have solid Rb's
