The SWAC East leading Delta Devils lost 29-2 to Central Arkansas today in Itta Bena, MS. That's not as bad as it sounds! They already have a 30 run loss to Florida Atlantic and a 16-run loss to non-scholarship Div III Mississippi College.

Could be worse, I guess...they could've played all nine innings!

Central Arkansas 29, Mississippi Valley 2 (Mar 27, 2007 at Itta Bena, MS)

Div I
Florida Atlantic 33, Miss. Vally St. 3 (Feb 03, 2007 at Boca Raton, FL)

Div III
Mississippi College 21, Miss. Valley St. 5 (Feb 16, 2007 at Clinton High School)

For what it's worth, they played a close game against a top 25 team recently...#25 Alabama Crimson Tide 3, Mississippi Valley 1...

Only down 8-4 to SELA after seven innings...

Not bad, Valley! Guess you experimented with some pitchers the other night against a transitional Div I team and saved the big guns for the real Div I team...

Final - SLU 11, Valley 4.

Thought SLU would score about 10 runs after the first inning as seven of the first eight batters got on base - six hits, one hit batter. Only ended up with four runs after No. 9 guy hit into double play xoopsx

Valley did throw one of their weekend starters beginning in the sixth after their starter allowed seven runs in five innings.

We're now off to San Antonio to face UTSA in is shaping to be a big series for both teams. xthumbsupx

Baseball is a funny thing. It really depends on who your mid-week pitchers are (most programs save their best for the conference games) as well as who on the other team has hot bats. In baseball, any team can win on any given day.
