Those of us from the upper Midwest knew the legend of Gagliardi well.

The media around here is full of Gags stories.

I've been to a number of games at St. John's. Great venue in that bowl, with autumn leaves falling around you and Johnnie bread being sold. I wonder how many thousands will be there this weekend since both they and St. Thomas are unbeaten. Maybe 18 to 19 thousand?

A real legend in every sense of the word. He was the same age of my Dad, who died this past March and also a football coach at the high school level. The men of that generation had really seen it all from the Depression through WWII and all the societal changes that followed. They were true mentors who were more than just coaches. RIP.
