Shame that Gooden is dropped. Teams are focusing on him and running primarily to the other side and he is still making pursuit tackles. I hope he will be added again before the season is over. I'm not sure that there is a better DE in the FCS.

He is very good but as you have seen to win the award you must have good numbers. The DE at ETSU is being schemed against and has 6 sacks. Hoping Gooden can get a couple sacks or major tackle numbers so he would be a player that voters would consider again.

With that said, unless something changes I think Johnson, Olson, Moreland, and Blunt are running away with being the top 4 for the Buck Buchanan Award right now.

Watching and photographing B.J. Blunt this season has been a pleasure. He is all over the field making plays.

If Dartmouth's Swann gets dropped, it will be for the same reason. He had two nice pass breakups last Saturday, but Penn mostly wasn't throwing to him.

So, the best player in FCS, QB John Lovett, Princeton, averaging almost 5 TD's per game (passing and rushing) is still only in the "Considered" category?

this just can't be a good thing

Not that I want to call out bad play, but how can Raynard (NC A&T) still be on any list? He completes less than 50% of his passes, only has a couple more TDs than INTs, and he hasn't done anything running the ball, either.

How is Dewonya Tucker from Prairie View isn't on the list? The kid is the Nation's leading rusher.

Freak athlete. He will get drafted for sure I would think but I doubt many voters will give credit unless he has 2-3 TDs and proves to be more than a one time thing.

I'm not going to project 2 from the same Ivy League team this early. I'll replace Horsted for him if he ends up having much better numbers. If not for Horsted being on preseason list I probably would have put Lovett on there.

Not that I want to call out bad play, but how can Raynard (NC A&T) still be on any list? He completes less than 50% of his passes, only has a couple more TDs than INTs, and he hasn't done anything running the ball, either.

Want to make sure I have 1 MEAC guy, at least, on the Payton list. Waiting to see who I can replace him with. I expect to next week or the week after once someone steps up. If their RB could repeat what he did against SC State for 2 more weeks I will just put him on.

Freak athlete. He will get drafted for sure I would think but I doubt many voters will give credit unless he has 2-3 TDs and proves to be more than a one time thing.

Well, he might by the end of the season. He does get put in on offense periodically, although usually he's used as run blocker. He had one rushing TD last season against Tennessee Tech and a receiving TD this season against Youngstown State.
I was mostly joking anyway. I know he's probably not quite good enough as a pure defensive player to be a finalist for the Buchanan Award, but like you said, he's a freak athlete...has a ton of versatility, might be the fastest D-Lineman in the FCS. I hope you're right that he'll get drafted though...he deserves it...works really hard and is incredibly friendly.

And really, who could say no to a smile like this...

How is Dewonya Tucker from Prairie View isn't on the list? The kid is the Nation's leading rusher.

Need more TDs coming from the SWAC.

If he does not get drafted it would be due to a bad postseason and lack of height. He will need to dominate but athletically he is a can't miss guy.

And he almost always looks like that. My sister-in-law and I went to our game at U of I (she's a U of I alumni but also got MBA at WIU) and near the end of halftime he came over to the wall near where we were sitting (right next to the WIU section) and was listening to someone sitting a few rows behind us. I look back and realize it's his mother giving him some tips. He's just got a huge smile and waves at her like "mom...I got this". He's the kind of player everyone wants to see do well (except when they're playing us). She (my sister-in-law) was pretty surprised when I told her he's probably the most likely player on our current team to make the NFL. Dude's a math education major too...if/when professional football dreams come to an end, he's going to make an awesome math teacher.

Anything that is mathematics related is a major prop from me. When someone treats their parents right, they will go places in life.

How's Easton still like the Top 5?

That 55% completion percentage just keeps sticking out at me. Especially during the SDSU game.

Still keeping him since he is the top offensive player on the top team and waiting to see who separates themselves from the rest. I'm not sure who I would put in his spot in the top 5 yet and he does have name recognition.

I personally think that Mason Bennett is going to challenge for All-American status this year. He's having a great breakout year.

He's definitely one piece of the lightning in our thunder and lightning backfield. The other RB @ thunder, imho, is almost as fast but is more direct looking for contact.

If Dartmouth's Swann gets dropped, it will be for the same reason. He had two nice pass breakups last Saturday, but Penn mostly wasn't throwing to him.

Swann got a pick-six against Yale last night. He has five interceptions in four games.

I have an idea who you might put instead.
