Week 2 in the conference season, but this week sees four teams taking a bye. Five games on the docket involving the Big Sky. Some interesting results last week and we'll see how those teams come out this week. In one of the more intriguing matchups, Northern Colorado draws the wild card, North Dakota this week. After the first conference weekend I am at 33-8, hoping for perfection as usual.
EWU at MSU---The Eagles looked strong in the first week at home, but now must go out on the road to hostile territory as they play the Bobcats, who got a nice conference road win in their first game. This has the makings of a great game, but go with the visitors...EWU 38, MSU 28.
UM at CP---The Grizzlies had just enough last week to hold off a strong challenger at their friendly confines. Now they have to go on the road into California to take on the Mustangs who are reeling from a huge road loss in their conference opener. Not much different here...UM 31, CP 21.
North Dakota at UNC---The motto for the season for the Bears so far has been close but not close enough and that includes last weekend when they played good enough for three quarters only to lose in the fourth. They welcome the Hawks who have some questions now...UNC 29, North Dakota 25.
NAU at ISU---Hey, Bengals, where did that performance last week at North Dakota come from? They are now riding a big confidence wave as they bring in the reeling Lumberjacks, who got a good home win last week. Can the Bengals catch the Lumberjacks napping?...ISU 28, NAU 24.
PSU at UI---Some disappointing turn of events for both teams as the Vandals looked pretty bad for most of the game last week and the Vikings looked pretty bad for all of their game. A win for either could jumpstart their season while a loss could end it...UI 38, PSU 21.

Montana 34-24 Cal Poly — Kent Baer gets his turn at The Devil's Offense
Portland St. 21-41 Idaho — Battle for the basement?
NAU 35-41 Idaho St. — Cookus's status is still unknown, so I'll go with The Barn
EWU 38-24 Montana St. — Fun Fact!: Eastern leads the Big Sky in rushing & they're averaging 8.3 ypc
NoDak 31-28 NoCo — Josh Davis ran for 218 on NoCo, so Santiago & Oliveira should go wild… right?

EWU 42 at MSU 31---The Eagles are flying high. Will the Cat's catch them flying too close to the sun and beat them as their wings burn? Not likely this is football not mythology
UM 38 at CP 24---Does CP have a defense? Giving up 70 to conference mate is not good defense. Will they be able to fix it in a week? The griz offense may have a hay day.
North Dakota 28 at UNC 32---I am not sure what to think of UND. They beat a ranked opponent on the road and then turn around and lose to an unranked team at home; but maybe ISU is better than we realize. I go with the home team in this one.
NAU 25 at ISU 35---Will Cookus be back? The 2nd String QB did decent last week, so will it matter very much? I see ISU, being at home, taking the W.
PSU 20 at UI 48---Idaho has been winning the games they should and losing the ones they should and losing the ones that may be close. Idaho should win this.

Here it is fellas. I am not confident Idaho has the horses to even beat Portland State. This isn't a knock on PSU.
The Viks have a lot going for them as a BSC member. Once they get the pieces together, they will be in a great spot.

EWU v MSU - I think this one should be very entertaining. Edub's got a run game and a throw game. Bobcat's have an Andersen game. How will the defenses show? EWU 45 MSU 26
UM v Cal Poly - The Griz are making strides to rounding out their game. Sure Sneed, but looking for the running backs to take further steps forward. Poly D has been porous. Also looking to see the Griz D bend but not break against their bugaboo team of the past decade. UM 38 Poly 18
ND v UNC - A good matchup and one of NoCo's most winnable matchups. They aren't terrible anywhere, but not great anywhere. If UND doesn't shoot a foot they should roll. The running back stable should have a heyday. Doesn't mean they will win necessarily but..... ND 32 UNC 29
NAU v Idaho St. - NAU is finding their footing with a Gadd backup QB. The Bengals may have found theirs too. Another good Big Sky matchup worth keeping an eye on. Winner still may have a future, loser will be on the back foot. NAU 35 ISU 34
Portland St. v Idaho - Rough going for Idaho this year so far with a tough schedule. It was always going to be tough rowing looking at it preseason, but now it looks kicked up a notch since then. One of only a few lulls, the Vandals should bag their first BSC win. Not sure what to do with the Vikings. Not much. PSU 17 Idaho 32

4-1 this week, thanks to that North Dakota team. 37-9 now for the season.
