Appalachian Leads SoCon Commissioner's, Germann Cup Standings
by Appalachian Sports Information

March 22, 2007 - SPARTANBURG, S.C. *— Appalachian State University is two-thirds of the way to sweeping the Southern Conference's Commissioner's and Germann Cups for the second-straight year, as ASU leads the points standings for both awards following the league's fall and winter seasons.

Thanks to conference championships in football, cross country and indoor track and field and the league's North Division title in basketball, Appalachian holds a commanding 12-point lead over UNC Greensboro in the Commissioner’s Cup standings. The Commissioner's Cup is awarded to the SoCon's top all-around men's sports program. In 2005-06, ASU claimed the Commissioner's Cup for the 26th time in 29 years.

....

Four sports remain in both races — outdoor track and field, tennis, golf and baseball/softball. The Cup recipients will be announced following the conclusion of the SoCon Baseball Tournament in May.

Like Elon being ahead of GSU in both cups even though we had a pretty bad year overall. Outside of App and a select few other teams in various sports, it was a down year for the conference overall.
