NDSU has only played 2 games? Are you sure it is? I know it says "As of 9/10/2018" but that throws me off too.

If this is correct, where does one start?

-SHSU at #5
-KSU at #7
-Samford at #9
-Nova at #10
-NSU at #13
-Montana at #15
-McNeese at #16 and below NSU
-Maine at #17
-ISUr at #19
-USeD at #22

For ORV: UNH, Furman, GFCC, Sacred Heart, Howard

How can 3 people think NCAT are the best in the nation?

I see that now. That is pretty bad.

I think it ***must*** have some more updating to do. This leaves Samford at #9 after their loss to unranked Mercer at home. Maybe Samford stays up in the polls, but no way would I think Mercer at 2-1 doesn't at least get into the ORV section???

Seeing the updated one, I laugh at the following:

-NCAT should not be getting #1 votes, period
-Why the love for JSU at #10
-SHSU is still way too high at #11 and should be below GFCC
-Nova at #15 is fine, if you included Towson above them
-How can you have a 1-2 Samford above Mercer
-Montana should not be in the poll with how they have performed the last 2 weeks
-UNI at #25 doesn't make sense to me but maybe to others
-A combination of Towson, Mercer, UD, Chatty and Sac St should be in the polls as well.

I have no problem if they were 15 and lower. Hell, after 10-12, as I have said earlier, it is a complete crapshoot, but even with the updated ones having them at #11, is a little baffling.

Still a little crazy in how hard it is for teams who aren't ranked to begin with to climb. I agree that they at least seem to be capturing the 40 or so best teams, but just like you guys are complaining about voting for AGS it gets pretty hard after the top 6-10. Mercer went from 0 votes last week to now being close to the top-25 (221 puts them 28th), but they are 1159 behind Samford - the team they just beat @ Samford.

That's where I have them. It's mainly due to the fact that there's not much to go outside of the top 6-8 teams and JSU's only loss is from when they dominated my #5 team (NC A&T) statistically in the FCS Kickoff Classic but got edged on the scoreboard.

But for a couple of very correctable mistakes Montana should have pulled that game out at WIU. This is coming from a very young team that one could reasonable expect to have a quicker upside but at 2-1 I can't say this is egregious. I really felt pretty good about where we are headed after that WIU game.

I really felt pretty good about where we are headed after that WIU game.I had you on the outside looking in as about 20 teams were fighting for 12ish to 25. I agree Montana should have won that game, but imo, 2 close games against a beatable and a non-scholly team does bring forth question marks. The drake game scoreboard was not indicative of what I saw. I feel like Montana, will get back into my T25 but right now, I personally want to see more.

No one will ever accuse me of being a GFCC fan but SHSU being ahead of GFCC is absurd. It is slot voting. Early in the season there is a lot of movement.

SHSU's resume.
Home - W vs Prairie View A&M 41-32
Home - L vs GFCC 24-23

GFCC's resume.
Home - W vs Mississippi Valley State 35-7
@ #9 Washington (FBS) 45-3
Away - W Sam Houston State 24-23

I ask again how can SHSU be ahead of GFCC? My guess is Sam Houston State has much higher name recognition.

That's where I have them. It's mainly due to the fact that there's not much to go outside of the top 6-8 teams and JSU's only loss is from when they dominated my #5 team (NC A&T) statistically in the FCS Kickoff Classic but got edged on the scoreboard.

Two bye weeks in the first 3 weeks is always fun.

I don't believe that in every scenario if Team A beats Team B, they should automatically be higher in the polls; most of the time, but not always. However, you make a good point, that based on their resumes to this point (not how they finished last season, or how they project for the remainder of this year), a compelling argument could be made to rank UND ahead of SHSU.

I completely agree with you. Later in the season it makes even more sense because there are more games to judge teams against each other. Early in the season my poll has a lot of movement.

I had you on the outside looking in as about 20 teams were fighting for 12ish to 25. I agree Montana should have won that game, but imo, 2 close games against a beatable and a non-scholly team does bring forth question marks.

But you just said SHSU should be in the 15-25 range. So....I think the Griz resume is comparable if not better.

It's all about the clicks. You'd think Emory was running that site... xlolx

The fact that STATS has anything to do with him is a joke. He is not a serious analyst. I respect a few of those in the media who cover the draft but he is one of those just says things for clicks and is a closet racist.

I truly believe if you put both teams on a neutral field, the Griz would win slightly more than half as long as SHSUs OC did what he did on Saturday. The problem as I have said before, is you have 20ish teams fighting for about 13 spots give or take and someone has to be on the outside looking in.

Did you mean the page it is posted on? Massey wants you to either have a static page that the poll can always be found on or send a simple text doc of the rankings. I assume that is why they use the same location and it takes a while to update the overall page and we should maybe hold off until we KNOW that the poll presented is actually the completed new poll for STATS.

I get that but wouldn't a better way to look at it be to look at the games played and what looks better to you. Then maybe how SHSU do against our schedule and us against theirs, then what we think in a H2H matchup. Our D is f'n showing some real shiny spots and getting better but I haven't looked at the stats and that is just what I see with the eye tests.

I was just applying your statement to what you said about the Griz and I think if you look at them both it's probably equal so I'd think the Griz should have around the same area of ranking which they may have had since you have SHSU at 24 and not the 15 I was taking you at.

The problem I have is, you truly have a pack of teams at the top who clearly look like contenders and a fish bowl of other teams that could fluidly move around depending on how you think they performed. If I had 30 spots, they would be there with UNI, WIU, Richmond, and APSU but alas, I have 25 spots and with this being the toughest poll to date for me, I was doing my best to remain objective. I'll say this, when DayTripper and I practically agree on almost nothing besides Popeyes, and he has them at 23 and I have them at 24, I think I did a solid job. As has been said before, we judge our own teams harder than others.

If UND keeps winning, they will keep jumping, and if both teams are say, 5-1, then yes, UND should be ahead of SHSU. But if by week 6 UND is 3-3 and SHSU is 5-1, can you really claim UND should be ahead of SHSU?

No, and nobody would. H2H fades when there is more data against it.

You did not just way that if more games were played, then you believe that Team A would win more than half as justification. You are my new knight in shining armor. ;)It's week 3, it's hypothetical and was more to make the point that after 12ish teams, you could grab 20 or so teams and plug them in and you'd probably have a reason for it, as long as it wasn't future and/or slot voting. I don't vote for the future outside of the preseason poll. Never have and never will. It's lazy voting and almost as bad as slot voting. I use multiple different metrics to vote and if you look at my past polls, you will notice a shocking trend, my votes almost always tend to line up closely with the aggregate. The reason for that is, I look at the games objectively and place teams where I think they currently are while also valuing the H-to-H if both teams are significantly close to one another.
