Popeyes (biscuits), unless you hate life.

I like Popeyes’ biscuits, but both Bojangles’ and Church’s (the latter of which has some sort of honey flavoring added) are better IMO; I’d give Church’s a very slight edge over Bojangles. KFC’s biscuits, unlike their chicken, are also comparable to those other three chains and are solid.

With the chicken itself, I think I like Popeyes the best, but choosing between Popeyes, Church’s, and Bojangles to me is like choosing between your three children; I like all three a lot. I will note Church’s IMO can sometimes be a little more inconsistent quality-wise than either Popeyes or Bojangles.

FWIW, among sides for the three chains (Popeyes, Church’s, and Bojangles) combined, Bojangles has the single-best side IMO, their dirty (Cajun) rice.

P.S. If we’re talking chicken sandwiches, rather than chicken on bone, then IMO the previously mentioned Chick-Fil-A is probably the best.

WTF is a horseshoe?

Regional dish...created in Springfield, IL. At it's most basic, an open-faced sandwich...slice of bread or toast, meat, fries, covered in cheese sauce. Many different variations...some have other toppings, different kinds of meat, etc. In Macomb, we've got a couple of places that have really good horseshoes (and the smaller version...pony/ponyshoe).

Sub the bread for cheese curds and it's called poutine (some places include the meat some dont). The Canadians are secretly invading the country.

Similar, but I think a poutine has gravy too. Also, horseshoes have been around for like 100 years, so if they're invading, they're doing it really slowly.

Interesting... sounds good. You got any favorite combo as far as cheese sauce?, meat?, other toppings?

There's two that I like personally. Chubby's (location (https://goo.gl/maps/X3uP2ofhvfJ2), menu (https://www.facebook.com/pg/chubbysmacomb/menu/?p_ref=pa)) has a buffalo chicken shoe that I'm a big fan of (I like mine with diced tomatoes). Chubby's has a white cheese sauce that is really good on it.
The other is the Jackson Street Pub (location (https://goo.gl/maps/VZyNnLuXLix), menu (https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=1804678782943741&id=111845855560384&__xts__[0]=68.ARBHZyMAoYNx5mmlc4gjATgGAptnLDFXDwyNe2aYzMXP_j KsMlZ3p10l6UO2QmWhMM5hQg6vmPA00b0x1UZ181m0VYOpijYC mOJ2uBunySPzRRoZs7-I5IKgqeHVmEQru6vO9Y0Ycx6sp-Vk6xPFJIccE3YQy2o8-U-VJhMMy1ZcvxumLutcbg&__tn__=-R)) that makes a really good breaded tenderloin sandwich, but an even better breaded tenderloin horseshoe. They do cheddar on top with either lattuce fries or seasoned fries...both are great.

Most places will do toppings like chili, grilled onions, mushrooms, etc.

For any of you folks who happen to be dropping by Macomb for a game at some point in the future, I highly recommend either of these. Both places do fine in the burgers and sandwiches categories as well, but there's only a limited geographical area you can get a horseshoe without making it yourself. Also, unless you are a former o-lineman or are exceptionally hungry, a pony shoe is plenty for most people. I'm not a big person and I ate a whole horseshoe once....only once.

The "good" news is that Florence made landfall as a category 1, as opposed to a category 3.

I live in Irmo/Columbia, kind of in the path, but not really, but we're expecting rain tomorrow and the overall storm to be downgraded by then.

Still, on my morning walk I noticed it was a little windier than usual and I attribute that to Florence. A lot of work places are allowing folks to work from home because they're still shellshocked from Matthew and don't want to risk it.

CHIP72
September 14th, 2018, 02:10 PM
It's also weakened significantly, like Florence.

That doesn't help the people near much of the North Carolina and South Carolina coast much due to the storm's slow movement, large size, and resulting continued storm surge and rain repeatedly over the same locations. Some places in the heavier rain bands (like New Bern, NC) are going to get massive amounts of rain from this storm.

CHIP72
September 14th, 2018, 06:52 PM
Not a good situation in most parts of southeastern North Carolina right now; some coastal areas have been hit by strong storm surge all day, while others have been very heavy rain bands much of the day. Keep people in those areas in your thoughts.
