Week one we lost to NC State, but showed potential whatever that means. Actually it means we lost, but we're trying to make ourselves feel better about it.
Week two was garbage - multiple weather delays then the game was cancelled after the first quarter
So now we play Robert Morris at home. Who is Robert Morris? Whey are we playing him? Is he bringing other guys with him? Let me school you on Robert Morris courtesy of Wikipedia which is probably mostly correct:
Robert Morris University (RMU) is a private, doctoral university (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University) located in Moon (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moon_Township,_Allegheny_County,_Pennsylvania), a suburb of Pittsburgh (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pittsburgh), Pennsylvania (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pennsylvania), United States (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States). The school was founded in 1921 and is named after Robert Morris (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Morris_(financier)), a signer of the Declaration of Independence (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Declaration_of_Independence), Constitution (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Constitution), Articles of Confederation (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Articles_of_Confederation) and financier of the American Revolution (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Revolution). It enrolls more than 4,000 undergraduates and more than 1,000 graduate students.
So we have 5x the undergrad population. That is a 5 x 7 = 35 point advantage using the CSAT maths. I predict we win this game by thorough crushage.
What about the football team. Again I will consult my team of researchers at the wiki lab:
Robert Morris Colonials football program is the intercollegiate American football (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_football) team for the Robert Morris University (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Morris_University) located in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pennsylvania). The team competes in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Division_I_FCS) and are members of the Northeast Conference (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northeast_Conference). The school's first football team was fielded in 1994.[2] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Morris_Colonials_football#cite_note-champs-2) The team plays its home games at the 3,000 seat Joe Walton Stadium (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Walton_Stadium). They are currently led by first-year head coach Bernard Clark (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernard_Clark)
We know the US State of PA has some good football +10-pts
First team fielded in 1994 -20 pts
3000 seat stadium - not a home game so doesn't factor
JMU by 45 pts
Their most recent playoff was 2010 when they lost Bigly to North Dakota State. No shame there, NDSU clobbers everyone.
Other intel - R. Morris lost week one to Dayton and won week two over Virginia State. I feel like I still don't know anything useful.
Robert Morris fans - Make the drive down I-81, do some tailgating, root for your team and enjoy the game.

Here's the current betting line. This means no one in Vegas knows who JMU or Robert Morris is, so you should bet on a D1 game and watch it on the big screens. Will recheck for a betting line at the end of the week. Recommend changing name from JMU to MayweatherJMU for better name recognition in Vegas. Robert Morris will become GGG-Morris.

Google Maps says BobbyMo won't get on 81 until Mauzy (or Winchester using alternate routes), so hopefully their time on 81 isn't too long

I may go to this game, probably better than staying home and watching the Colorado Buffaloes stampede my Wildcats.

Watch for a heavy Flo. Could cause another cancellation due to flooding or stupendously heavy rains. This would make the season double-garbage so far.

Mauzy - memories - riding back to JMU with my roommate in his VW squareback. He's bragging about it having a new engine and how great it runs and ---- boom , thrown rod and we roll to a stop just south of Mauzy. We began walking to the next exit. Fortunately the travelers of i81 were extra generous with their advice such as: hey asshole get a car or f-ck you you f-cks! They were nice enough to slow down to make sure we heard them. Thanks I81 Dudes for the great life advice! I hope your other tooth fell out by now!

There's been a few times that a residual tropical storm has dumped a load of rain in the valley. But mostly I wanted to make a joke about a heavy Flo.

You may need to get there via boat. Florence isn’t going to make things easy on us.

Jeff Sagarin put his big brain to work on this matchup and came up with the following:
To make predictions for upcoming games, simply compare the RATINGS ofthe teams in question and allow an ADDITIONAL 3 points for the home
team. Thus, for example, a HOME team with a rating of 92 would be
favored by 5 points over a VISITING team having a rating of 90.
Or a VISITING team with a rating of 89 would be favored by 7 points
over a HOME team having a rating of 79.
82 James Madison AA = 65.30 1 1 0 58.12( 127) 0 0 0 | 0 1 0 | 65.26 81 | 66.03 80 | 65.30 85
242 Robert Morris AA = 21.42 1 1 0 34.46( 228) 0 0 0 | 0 0 0 | 21.65 242 | 19.72 241 | 19.27 244
Using [hey why is this green] the predictor - blue - indicates hometeam JMU should win by 43 pts + HOME ADVANTAGE=[ 2.36]
JMU by 45 pts
I'd like to point out that Sagarin used MIT math and a pumpkin sized brain while I used JMU maths and we came up with the same result. JMU maths = MIT big brains Go Dukes!

JMU is further south than Bobby Morris, so they win due to the heat while also naming the score.

2004 there was a bad one which flooded by Sorority row/ tree houses as Newman lake spilled its banks. Not much wind but TONS of rain. If we have a repeat of the 2004 season I'm fine with it!

Here's what James Madison fans need to know about Robert Morris:
In 2017, RMU was one of the worst teams in all of FCS, especially offensively. Out of 123 FCS teams, Robert Morris ranked No. 122 in scoring offense, 120 in total offense, 120 in completion percentage, 121 in 3rd down conversions. The defense was better, but that's also the area of the team that graduated the most.
All of that led to Robert Morris canning its head coach and hiring Bernard Clark in December. Clark is a Miami (FL) grad who played for Jimmy Johnson during The U's reign in the 80s. Clark was most recently the defensive coordinator at Albany, so maybe JMU fans can glean something from the Dukes' recent games against the Great Danes.
Things weren't always so bleak for RMU. Under former NY Jets head coach Joe Walton - who founded the Robert Morris program in 1994 - RMU won six Northeast Conference titles, with the most recent in 2010. It knocked off nationally ranked Liberty that year and then in the FCS playoffs, RMU played North Dakota State close for three quarters before it all fell apart in the fourth. But as the rest of the NEC caught up to RMU, the program fell behind. Walton retired, John Banaszak (former Steelers lineman) took over and struggled even more, and so here we are.
This is an exceptionally young Robert Morris team. There are only a handful of senior starters, though one is quarterback Jimmy Walker, who can sling it when has some time. The issue is that he doesn't often have time, because the offensive line is almost all sophomores.
If Robert Morris scores 10 points in this game and/or gets 200 yards of offense, it'll be a victory.

That was rain related to Hurricane Ivan. I remember that storm dumped close to a foot of rain where I lived at the time (Harrisburg, PA area) in about 14 hours between about 7 PM on a Friday night and 9 AM on a Saturday morning.

From the JMU sports page:
SCOUTING ROBERT MORRIS
The Colonials enter with a 1-1 record, opening the season with a 49-28 loss at Dayton before bouncing back with a 22-19 come-from-behind win against Virginia State last Saturday. Against VSU, RMU trailed 19-7 with 9:43 to play before scoring two touchdowns only 78 seconds apart.
RMU averages 25.0 points per game while conceding 34.0 to its opponents. It also averages 241.0 passing yards while allowing 268.0 rushing yards per outing. The Colonials' red-zone defense has stopped opponents on five of 11 trips inside the 20 this season.
Bernard Clark Jr. is in his first season as head coach of the Colonials. He spent the previous five seasons at Albany as defensive coordinator. A former third-round draft pick, Clark played three seasons in the NFL after a standout career with Miami, where he was Orange Bowl MVP. He began his career at JMU, serving as defensive ends coach in 1998 and 1999.
New intel causes major change in the betting line. Bobbie Moe's head coach began his coaching career at JMU. He is clearly a highly qualified, handsome, and intelligent man. He knows the words to our school song and knows you can get free chili dogs from the Exxon on Port Republic Rd at 1am when they clean the grill. JMU by 30 (down from 50)
