Am I supposed to be rooting for you guys now? It seems really unclear.
I'm pretty sure I'm supposed to support the conference in OOC games, and you guys beating BYU would be yuge, but like... It feels dirty.

Tulsa-Temple, WKU-MTSU and JSU-Sam Houston on TV tonight. JSU needs to go back to the Gamecock on the helmets, the current ones aren't hacking it.
Austin Reed for WKU tore up MSU-Mankato in the 2019 D2 title game for West Florida. Can't hate him, he can toss the ball.

Looks like Liberty is on track for a undefeated season, just beat WKU 42-29 last night. They've already clinched a spot in the C-USA title game, and odds are they'll play either NMSU or WKU, both of whom they've beaten.
Will be interesting to see how a 13-0 Liberty would be viewed compared to say a 12-1 Tulane from the AAC or 12-1 Air Force/Fresno State from the MWC. If Air Force finishes 13-0 with a MWC title I'd expect them to get the NY6 over Liberty, but if they drop a game it'll be intriguing to see who gets the NY6 spot.

Boise State has fired HC Andy Avalos. Was his 3rd season at Boise and he was 22-14, but the program was clearly regressing.
Will be interesting to see who they go after. Could Jason Eck or Brent Vigen be candidates? Hell maybe they’ll take Entz off of NDSU’s hands.

Both JMU and Jacksonville State could still get to a bowl game, provided there aren't enough teams to fill the 82 slots across 41 bowls. "" This is what you call speculative hyperbole. This was not an official determination.
The last time there werent enough bowl teams they lowered the qualifications.

From what I have seen, JMU is projected for the Gasparilla Bowl against an AAC opponent, while JSU is more up in the air, but the Camellia Bowl against possibly an MWC opponent.JMU being in the Gasparilla Bowl would be a good draw, especially if they could draw a top level AAC like Memphis. JSU on the other hand is okay.

G5 commissioners are exploring the possibility of an “NIT” for CFB. I think this is dumb and the individual bowl games already serve as the NIT equivalent for CFB but whatever. I still think the top of the FCS should merge with G5, with the remaining FCS being allowed to drop football to D2 or D3.
https://www.si.com/fannation/college/cfb-hq/news/group-of-five-college-football-nit-playoff-report
While the Group of Five is already guaranteed at least one spot in college football's newly-expanded playoff, those member schools suspect the system could change again and are looking for ways to carve a space for themselves in the postseason going forward.
To that end, Group of Five commissioners will meet in Dallas next week to discuss the state of the G5. Among the subjects of conversation: "the possibility of a reshaped postseason incorporating the bowl system," according to Yahoo Sports.
"We are open to all of that," Mountain West commissioner Gloria Nevarez said, via Yahoo. "That would be really interesting and have some value. What if it's like an NIT of football?"
The primary goal of the Group of Five is to make sure it can earn maximum revenue and interest at their level of football, while decidedly not surrendering their auto bid in the CFP going forward.

If this does happen I’m hoping SDSU pushes for a move-up. The FCS is already a glorified D2, moving up and still being able to compete for a title would be great. Finding a conference would be the challenge.

Probably makes things easier having them together, but it could definitely be done to push UTSA to a higher level.
I also find Texas to be nuts in terms of education. They have six different university systems across the state which seems crazy. But I guess in a state that big it might be needed.

I could have told you they wouldn't be cheap. Face value on the cheapest tickets are probably somewhere in the $125 to $150 range (based on what I paid for an upper level end zone seat for the 2015 Army-Navy Game, the only time I've attended that matchup).

NIU is joining the MWC as a football only member. No idea if they’ll stay in the MAC for everything else or move to the Horizon or OVC. Not a bad move for NIU when you think about it. They are an outlier in the MAC and would only travel out west four times during the season. MWC payout will be higher and they don’t have to play in the middle of the week with MACtion anymore.
