Rhode Island 24 Delaware 23 - my eyes don’t deceive me here. Rhody is building their program. It puts CAA on notice in week 1.

UNH 21 Maine 17 - The musket goes back to the Granite State.

Temple 24 Villanova 10 - Owls don’t give a hoot about FCS Nova.

NC State 20 JMU 17 - Dukes give Wolfpack all they can handle.

Air Force 21 Stony Brook 7 - Falcons use ground attack to win. Irony?

Pitt 28 Albany 7 - Pitt will methodically take control of this one. Spoil Gattuso’s Primanti Bros. Belly buster dinner.

W&M 20 Bucknell 7 - Bucknell keeps it respectable while Tribe focused on Laycock retirement banquets.

USF 35 Elon 14 - Too much Florida speed.

Virginia 20 Richmond 14 - UVA can’t shrug off feisty Spiders.

Towson 28 Morgan State 6 - Ambrose mad at CAA ranking.

Shamelessly stealing Gangtackle's format

Delaware 17 Rhode Island 13 - Rhody will give this one all they got, but Delaware's defense will be too much for them to get anything done.

UNH 24 Maine 14 - I'm not sold on Maine yet, and I think UNH will be strong early

Temple 28 Villanova 10 - I'm ignorant about Temple but from their stats they seem to pass the ball more than the CAA (about 50% of the time). Nova won't be able to deal with the pass attack.

NC State 27 JMU 17 - I think JMU will put up a fight and make some great plays, but NC State's too good. Look for red zone efficiency to dictate the score here.

Air Force 24 Stony Brook 7 - Idk much about this game, but I think AF will dominate at least.

Pitt 28 Albany 3 - Albany will be lucky to get more than a field goal in this one.

W&M 17 Bucknell 14 - Not much to say here, but I think it will be closer than people think.

USF 31 Elon 23 - I think Elon will come out of the offseason swinging in this one. But it won't be quite enough.

Virginia 24 Richmond 23 - I think Richmond will do better than expected here, but fall due to having to kick too many field goals.

Towson 31 Morgan State 10 - Towson will run away with this one.

Rhode Island @ #12 Delaware
#7 New Hampshire @ Maine - This game is more of a toss-up than anyone is giving it credit. Maine could win but I know UNH has the better D and manages to just keep winning in the series. I'll have to believe Maine will win once they actually do.
#22 Villanova @ Temple
#2 James Madison @ North Carolina State - The CAA may not get any FBS upsets this year. This JMU game seems like the most likely but Ryan Finley is projected by some to be the top QB in the 2019 draft. That may be too much for the JMU D to contain while their new starting QB faces a tough first opponent and can't keep up offensively. Either way, AGS will read WAY too much into this game's result and demand JMU be dropped from the rankings.
#20 Stony Brook @ Air Force - This could be another potential FBS upset, but didn't SB lose a lot offensively?
Albany @ Pittsburgh
William & Mary @ Bucknell
#14 Elon @ South Florida - Elon may have another good season, but this game won't tell us much of anything other than display the FBS/FCS gap
Richmond @ Virginia - UVA desperately needs to win this game but they don't even realize it. Bronco's tenure could be coming to a close soon if he keeps losing games like these. It'll be another game for the Hoos that is way too close for comfort but they'll squeak by.
Towson @ Morgan State

Our running game is stronger with the transfer of a running back from Univ Buffalo who looks and runs like Maysonet did several years ago. Also have a stub TE now in Tyrone Wheatley Jr a transfer from Univ of Michigan . He is 6'5 265 . We have a senior QB in Carbone with Gowins and Liontine back as seniors. This could be and upset like Army was few years ago.

Yeah I'd put SB/Air Force, JMU/NC State and UR/UVA as the three most likely CAA FCS upsets in week 1, in order. None are likely IMO.

I'll be with Stony Brook but have to think that mile High Air will not bode well for the Sea Lobos come the 4th Quarter

I'm not laughing GT, I think the Hens are in for a tough game, I really like The WR's Rhode Island brings, but Rhode QB I predict will make key mistake late and Delaware will preserve the win at home...... Ram fans will say we gave that one away

Before he's carried the ball a single time for SB, you think your U of Buffalo transfer will be better than Stacey Bedell? Ray Bolden was a big loss at WR as well. What's a stub TE?

Home field & high hopes should give the filthy dirty birds a big win. Rhody is 2 TD underdog. They took Central Michigan to OT in last year’s opener. I’ll be impressed if Delaware makes quick work of them. Rhody outplayed our sorry arses up there last season & a week later a dead carcass Nova wiped the field up with a playoff bid on the line Delaware. I just feel Rhody is coming on. Obviously this is a bold prediction, but it’s one made with a little bit of personal intel. xpeacex

Maine is playing for its season week one. A loss here, and losses in the two FBS games immediately following, and it is 0-3 and on the road at Yale. 0-4, needing to win out, and only having 3 home games left would be a disaster.

Delaware - The Rams will give the Hens a late gift turnover

New Hampshire - UNH takes control late

Saturday, September 1:

Temple - Nova is always in this game, but just not enough

North Carolina State - we might all be suprised here with a potential upset, but last year JMU has a better chance

Air Force - Stony will come out tough but fade into the high air late

Pittsburgh - Albany played good Defense last year, problem is sometimes they had the ball

William & Mary - The Tribe really cant be much worse than last year can they... close call

South Florida - can Elon make a game of it? probably not

Virginia - who is replacing Kyle Luleta?

Towson - I'm slipping, don't even have comment about this one.....

Just as much a must-win for UNH. The next three for us are Patriot League favorite Colgate, @ Colorado and @ Elon. In fact considering the pre-season expectations for both teams, maybe even more of must-win for UNH. I believe both teams will be ready to play on Thursday night. The fact that Maine insists on shooting itself in the foot with 2 FBS games, will not serve to change that.

I'm back from the West Coast, I got all the picks above this post entered as of now (12:50 PM EDT). Any before the kickoff time will be honored. My Picks:
Rhode Island @ #12 Delaware
- I wouldn't be surprised if UD only opens up as much as needed in the first 3 games, saving possible wrinkles for Fargo. Hens do enough to beat Rams by 1.5-2.5 possessions.
#7 New Hampshire @ Maine
- Week 1 Rivalry toss-up, going with Black Bears somewhat because of last November
#22 Villanova @ Temple
- I may be wrong, but I think the last time the Wildcats beat the Owls at the Linc was 2009, when Temple was middle-bottom of the MAC East and Nova was on route to the NC. Owls comfortably.
#2 James Madison @ North Carolina State
- There are a few ACC teams I could see Dukes beating this year, but Wolfpack are not one of them.
#20 Stony Brook @ Air Force
- Assuming Falcons run version of TO in this pick. If at Sea Level, I'd say Seawolves pull off upset. Thin air in Colorado Springs makes the difference.
Albany @ Pittsburgh
- If the Pitt of the first 11 games last year shows up, Great Danes have great upset chance. If the Panthers play anywhere like they did in their last game (upset of Miami), this isn't close.
William & Mary @ Bucknell
- Travel to Lewisburg makes difference for Bison over Tribe. Assuming they don't bus from Williamsburg, where do they fly into (no airports within 30 miles at least as far as I know, and I was there last month)
#14 Elon @ South Florida
- Bulls would be competitive in P5 most years, Phoenix can't match that.
Richmond @ Virginia
- Cavs start sluggish, Spiders pull upset that will be read into way too much.
Towson @ Morgan State
- Tigers survive, Bears keep it close enough to cause significant stress in Towson

Didnt See Maine beating UNH, but my eyes were correct on Rhody over Delaware. Sorry Blue Hen fans. xpeacex

Maine is for real. Defense totally dominated the line. Knew we could beat UNH, just didn;t we would dominate like we did.xnodx

Probably the only thing I can say right now is that UNH's season will be lost without their star QB.

What (previously) ranked CAA team is in bigger trouble after last night? Delaware or UNH?

good call GT, Gohens was pretty ugly last night, but not as ugly as Rocco's offense... Kane, minus the 2 back breaking fumbles, had a pretty nice game

Delaware Defense not as good as last year, lost alot up front.....

very vanilla and conservative play all around - 6-5 if we are lucky

Rhode Island had the best player on the field last night in # 6 Aaron Parker, who was actually suspended for first half...... gutzy game for Rhode Island and a tip the cap to them..... I would actually like to see them have a good season..

Not sure whose in "bigger" trouble but my optimism for Delaware this year is shattered. Our defense is suspect with what appears to be a weak line. I yearn for the Tubby years when not making a run in the playoffs was considered a horrible season.

Too early to throw in the towel C-Hen. I suspect every CAA team not named JMU may lose a game or 2 they didn’t expect in the CAA this season. You could see last season that Rhody was turning the corner, but it’s hard to say it as they have been really bad for too long.

It was also also hard to buy into the Delaware lofty rankings from what I’ve watched the past 2 seasons under Rocco. I wish I was a betting man. Cie la vie.

I didnt see the Maine domination coming. Nova will see them in October so I can see it with my own eyes. I think a lot of CAA teams may be 5 or 6 win teams as the bottom is stronger now.

I do like a strong bottom.

I was really wrong on Delaware. Ton of games left and plenty of time to improve, but I clearly had them way to high in my preseason poll. Put too many eggs in the BC transfer basket I guess.

I watched the replay of Maine vs UNH last night... I don't know what to take from this game. Maine looked really good, but UNH looks bad at the beginning of the last few seasons with a head scratching loss. Going to need a few more weeks to make sense of this one.

Has to be UD, right? Losing to Maine isn't completely out of left field, especially once your pre-season POY QB goes down. Losing to URI, however is never a good look.

Maybe, but I think Rhody has been building & is turning a corner.

I think that's true, but it would have to be quite the turn-around to beat a team with playoff expectations at home....unless UD met them in the middle somewhere.
