View Full Version : Miss. Valley at Miss. St. in NIT

HIU 93

March 13 at 7PM (again, not televised)

Other FCS Schools in the NIT not getting any TV love (what's up ESPN?)

App. State at Ole Miss 14 March

Hofstra at Depaul 14 March

How does Austin Peay at AFA get on but App. St. at Ole Miss and MVSU at MSU not? Really, App. St. and Valley have GREAT chances of pulling upsets in those games.

Miss. Valley at Miss. State. :D
One thing I'll give the NIT with these HOME COURT/CAMPUS games is:
THEY KNOW HOW TO START A WAR.
That game ain't gonna even be about the NIT.xlolx
If Miss. State, RODRICK RHODES, come out flat, they gonna get ambushed.

APPY ST..............Hit them Rebel's hard and fast.
Throw them out of sinc, and they are easy to beat.xnodx
Let them get out to a good start though, it's gonna be a long night.

Looking at all the NIT Brackets, I think these two games are ripe for upsets. Valley is a whole lot better than people give them credit for. ASU beat UVA (an NCAA #4 seed).

For the record- JSU should have received a #15 seed. That would have been winnable. Against Florida? That is just unfair looking at JSU's record and who y'all played.

Yep....................But at least we avoided the play-in bullshat this time.
We probably had to win the Regualar Season and Tournament championships to get it though.xrolleyesx
Good part is...........................N.O. is only 2 1/2 hours away.
Gonna be a good time.xnodx

Gators are going down!

That's the plan.
If we can get that big mofo Noah in foul trouble, the rest of the team matches up pretty good.xnodx
We gotta put the clap's down on Noah on the offense and defensive boards.

Not worried about his scoring.

Why should Valley's game be televised?

Sorry to break it to you, but Appalachian St and a few other of the schools in the NIT have done more OOC than the SWAC as a whole, no smack intended...

Austin Peay at Air Force should be televised. That's a #1 seed against a team that has gotten some national love this year...

Read your post...you put Valley/Miss St in same sentence as App St game. They're not even close!

Valley went 3-9 OOC with wins over UCA (twice, a transitional program) and McNeese St. UCA finished near the bottom of the SLC while McNeese finished top four. Can't say Valley has any legitimate chance at an upset. We must remind ourselves the SWAC went 13-83 vs. Division I competition this year. Throw in an RPI of 200 against a team with an RPI of 64.

AppSt on the otherhand went 6-3 OOC which included wins over VCU, Virginia and Vanderbilt. Those threee teams are going to the NCAA tournament, heard of that one? Have a nice win over Wichita St to go with wins over Central Florida and College of Charleston.

Ole Miss has an RPI of 58 compared to AppSt's 62. That's a difference of four compared to a 146 spot difference in the Valley game. Wowser!

No comparison there! I know HIU, that you love to plug HBCUs and it would be great if FCS institutions like Valley got more coverage, but your game is much further down the line in terms of upset potential and odds of a competitive game (see consistent 20+ point wins by high-major foes against Valley)...atleast be a realist!

The App State-Ole Miss game is being televised on CSS. Not sure if anyone up here in Boone will be able to get it, however.

Because Ms. State is a #1 seed, it's an IN-State battle, and people in charge in this region know that Ms. State/Valley will pull in a hell of a lot more viewers than Ole Miss/ Appy St.

Dude.................You need to stop.
Half the games played can be questioned about being televised.
You alway's point you negative bs at anything SWAC.
You search for an opening. xrolleyesx

You gave us more reasons why the game should not be televised...

#1 seed versus the lowest seed in that grouping. Considering Valley's results this year, this game could get a bit out of hand, facing a #1 seed at home.
In-state battles don't mean too much around the nation (see the demise of the SWC)

I'm criticizing the initial post which put Valley in the same sentence as legitimate NIT contenders and teams with upset potential. I'd do the same thing if it were an SLC team, because I know our conference has no chance (though a bit more than the SWAC). There's a huge difference, much bigger than the distance between Pine Bluff and Itta Benna, between Valley and App St and their respective chances of winning...

Sometimes jstate83, you and your SWAC friends need to take a step back and read what people write instead of jumping their bones...

blah...blah...blah

And Miss. St. is about as consistent as a 100 year olds bowels. The upset potential is there in that game as much as it is in App. State's game. Your dislike for the SWAC is what is keeping you from realizing that. It is also making you illiterate, because you somehow can't read where I gave App. State props.

I would not consider an AppSt win over Ole Miss an upset. That's a #5 beating a #4...so of course, there's more potential for an "upset" in Valley's game against MissSt, because it would actually be considered an upset due to the resume that AppSt has in comparison to Valley...

Valley winning away from home during OOC would be an upset in itself. They beat a transitional program (Central Arkansas) away from home this year. Against a Div I competition, they have not won away from home OOC since a 82-70 win over SE Missouri State on December 12, 2001. That's five seasons ago...xnonono2x

This is too easy...
From FOX sport news:
Weaknesses: … the offense is Johnson, Johnson, and more Johnson. No one else on the team averages in double figures. Outside of Johnson, there aren't any consistent threats from three-point range, and there's not anything to worry about on the offensive boards. While the defense comes up with a ton of steals, it also has major problems with fouls.
then Worst loses.... UC-Davis 66-58, at Arkansas-Pine Bluff 59-54 (LOL)

Southern splitted games with JSU, The Gators humilliated Southern 83-27 (expect similar results for JSU)
For the Gators vs Prairie View 94-33, (JSU struggled against them till the end when they got in foul trouble)
JSU has no chance of winning at all.

Out of your resume, Wins over UTEP,and Rutgers are not much to talk about, Syracuse beat them and they went NIT. The game against Georgia Tech; Jackson got spanked by 30 points and against Illinois Jackson lost by 21. No much respect earned against those teams.

This is what would happen Friday evening.
By half time the gator lead will be about 30 points, (+/_ 2 points). 5 minutes into the second half and still leading by 25, the whole bench comes in, the starters sit down, 5 minutes before the end, the dogs (walk ins) come in, still leading by 20; then; the games ends and Jackson's dance is over and the GATOR NATION laughs!!!

"if you ain't a Gator, you are Gator Bait !!!"

Now if Miss. State can string 2 games together they just might be onto something.
They have plenty of great players, but for the life of me, I can't figure out why they get stuck on stupid and throw games away in the last 10 minutes.

That's been Miss. States problem all year.xnodx

Undergrads at South Dakota State U. and USD (1997), MBA at Hofstra (2002) ,(two of them FCS and one in transition),in addition to another masters from a European school, PHD at Florida my latest degree' class of 2006, These are my FCS and my SEC connections.
For some of us there is more than just getting an undergrad degree, but we can't forget were our college career began!!!

All of us who were at Florida agree that while Noah's mom is a model, he'll never be one, but he is an animal with the basketball and that's all we care about him!!

Dennis Johnson, rest his soul, was not a pretty man either. He wasn't as bad as Otis Nixon for the Braves, but he was on the ugly side. Come to think of it, those Celtic teams in the early 80's were just a collection of some real ugly people - throw McHale in there too and they were just gruesome. I would have to agree with the other When Florida wins about 5 more SEC Championships and goes to about 6 - 10 more NCAAs then come talk about dynasty. No other SEC team can compare to Kentucky. Kentucky has 49 NCAA Appearances more than any other team. Kentucky has won more regular season and tournament championships than any other SEC team EVER!!!! To Kentuckians everywhere Florida is newborn child. Football is king, queen, prince, and princess in the University of Florida and you know it. xthumbsupx
