It'll be interesting to see the results of that. Albany is #1 in a power poll I saw.

My brother (freshman @ Duke) went to the first home game along more than 6,000 others who support the players and know who is right and who is wrong...

Great day for the Danes. Ticket to the Big Dance and a 3 season sweep of Delaware. Woohoo. I hope we keep this up, I love being competitive with Delaware, it could brew a very nice rivalry.

Albany is the real deal.
I caught the first half of the Towson/Maryland game on tv Saturday before going to the circus with my girls. Towson looked lost. Apparently they made a game of it in the second half but still came up short 8-7. Damn those Twerps!

Patriot League looking very competitive. Besides Navy, Army and Bucknell, Colgate and Lehigh could make some noise. Mountain Hawks have beaten Drexel and have given good account of themselves in the early going and gave Navy all they could handle.

I think it is funny that lacrosse is such a big sport on the east coast. But at today's women lacrosse game, they drew 57 vs. Iona.

Albany wins over UMass today 10-9 in OT.
Ranking should stay the same in USILA which is #2. The Nike/Inside Lacrosse ranking should go up from #6. Doesn't make any sense why we are #6 in the media poll.

Albany now 5-0 after win over Drexel. Is there a #1 ranking on the horizon here?

It could be, but I doubt they have the horses to make a run to the final four - there's a big difference between the best lacrosse schools and the rest of the pack. The win over Hopkins in the opener was a good one, but the only other real game on their schedule is Syracuse on April 20 (although even Syracuse looks to be down this year with losses to Virginia and Hopkins). If they win that one, then its time to get a little excited...

What's In A Name?
Albany's win over Johns Hopkins would have moved the Great Danes further up the polls if they had a different name on their jerseys, writes Quint Kessenich.
Good read.

Good read.
I'm not going to pretend to know more than someone who played goalie for Hopkins and I'd love to be wrong, but as a recent lacrosse fan, it seems that the best teams are the best teams year after year. That's not to say someone couldn't emerge (like Albany), I just can't see them as a lock for the final 4. And in lacrosse, I think #2 should be a lock.
I'll be in Baltimore for the semis - I hope to see them there.

There was an article on ESPN.com after the Hopkins-Albany game talking about the recent parody in DI lacrosse. The author chalked it up to the combination of a recent explosion of high school lacrosse programs around the country and the lack of expansion of DI lacrosse programs. He basically said that there are so many good lacrosse players and not enough spots at the traditional DI schools for them. This is how he accounted for the parody that he expected to continue for here on out.
I do agree though, that in the past the best teams (Virginia, Princeton, Hopkins, Syracuse) have been the best. I just think it will be different in the future. Not just in Albany, but other schools as well.

You could be right. In the last 3 years, Navy and UMass were surprise teams in the finals (although I partially attribute last year to the Durham team not participating).
