Indians shortstop Jhonny Peralta stole second base without a throw in Cleveland's 7-6 spring training win over the Phillies yesterday in Winter Haven, Fla. That in itself doesn't seem newsworthy, until you realize that Peralta hasn't stolen a base in a regular-season game since 2003. He was the only regular shortstop not to steal a base last year and was one of four (with Minnesota's Juan Castro, Oakland's Bobby Crosby and Milwaukee's J.J. Hardy) without a swipe in '05. In his career Peralta is one for eight in steal attempts.
