2018/2019 may end up being a crossroads for NDSU's men's basketball team. After finishing under .500 last year for the first time since the 2010/2011 season there's growing rumblings (at least amongst the fan base) that head coach David Richman may not be the right man to lead the program forward as his team's have won less games than the previous season in each of his 4 years at the helm. Beyond that the roster will see massive turnover as only 6 players on the 14 man roster played minutes for NDSU last year.

Most fans have a guarded optimism I think since there are some exciting incoming and young players (no 2018/2019 seniors on the roster) since it was frustrating to watch last year's team at many points during the season but there clearly needs to be some big leaps taken by several players in order for NDSU to get back to the top of the conference and that kind of player development has been sorely lacking over the last few years.

Harvard can be contending for a spot in the Ivy tournament, with this year to be held in Yale's campus. Hopefully with that talented of a roster (Seth Towns leading the way; he is a rising junior by now), we can be dancing once again if we win the three-game postseason tournament.

If Bisonville taught me something, its that there is more than “rumblings” on Richman.

Haha! Bisonville also has an inordinate amount our most vocal rubes. I think the NDSU MBB is kind of victim to the football team's success. I think there's a lot of casual NDSU MBB fans (which the program needs to be successful) that hold the MBB team to relatively similar, if not the same, standards as they hold the football team to which is crazy IMO. Holding any mid-major basketball program to that standard is going to lead to disappointment but especially in the case of NDSU where the tradition, and thus the support, hasn't exactly been at the premium mid-major level.

While value is had in those numbers they are a tad misleading.

In the MVC for example - Evansville, Bradley, Drake, and Loyola all have about 650k if that total budget tied up in scholarships because it costs 50k a year to go there. Meanwhile UNI is about 180K in tuition costs.

Simply taking tuition costs out Ciara massive shifts.

The programs like Bradley and Evansville spend another 225-250k a year renting off campus facilities that is part of those numbers.

Plenty of value to take from them, but as always it takes a bit of a skeptical eye to view it.

Very highly regarded out of HS. Was seen as a steal. Started as a true freshman at point guard. Lost his job. Started as a sophomore again. Lost his job. Like to the point an injury was made up and he stopped getting any PT. He wasn’t injured. It was time for him to leave and it was decided in season for that to be the case.

Very quick. He will destroy D2 defenders.

HOWEVER, he is a very very bad shooter. Like 32% from the floor and 25% from 3 and 54% from the line. He can’t shoot. At all. Not just jumpers. He can’t make lay ups. He’s blow past defenders and then just miss lay ups. Wasn’t great at generating contact and getting to the line, and when he did he didn’t make the FT. 1:1 A:TO. Rather lazy on defense - which really doesn’t work at UNI.

He’s the ultimate case of amazing natural talent and complete inability to use it or work for it. We have a 4* PG coming in next year and a JUCO transfer that out up 30 ppg at like 55% shooting. He was going to be real relegated next year.

That’s not even the worst part. Coach Jake might have been willing to keep him if it was just the talent thing - and yes, Jake told him that he would be better off elsewhere. The biggest issue with Juwan is his family. UNI parents hated his dad and brother. They referred to them as the Ball family. His family is his biggest down fall. I can point you to them on social media if you’d like but just read Lavar Ball and you’ve got his brother and father. To the point they would tag Coach Jake on twitter and bash the hell out of him and other players. They would do it at team hotels for parents. They would trash other players to their parents faces. His family literally tore the locker room apart and ruined 2 years of very talented players.

You could see it on the players faces. They weren’t having fun. It was miserable. It’s not a coincidence the worse two years in 2 decades at UNI are the two with Juwan and his family involved at PG. We can also see the difference already. Players and coaches interact more on social media. The new hashtag the program and players use on everything is #Family. Because that’s how our program has been built. That family crushed that.

His father pimped him out everywhere trying to get him another D1 school. His hometown team - who had mass exodus of their own - UW-Milwaukee, wouldn’t touch him. UWGB wouldn’t touch him. UIC wouldn’t touch him. Wright State and a few other regional MM schools looked at him and all said “I’d rather carry an open ride or take my chances with someone else that didn’t start 56 games in 2 years at one of the premiere MM programs in the country.” Jake didn’t bad mouth when he was called about him. He simply said things that indicates high potential but the work required to reach it was significant.

Maybe going D2 will be great for him. Maybe not getting a single D1 offer after his transfer will be enough of a ego hit to him and his family to get them to shut the **** up and actually prove something.

He’s got talent and potential. It just didn’t work here for reasons. My advice would be to keep his family as far away as possible. Good luck.

Our team should be decent this year and could maybe make a run for the OVC in basketball this year. We lost 3 guys this past year and we got some good freshman in this year and we’re fairly young this year. I’m actually looking forward to basketball that isn’t UW-Madison for once(I live in Milwaukee but grew up in Clarksville where APSU is located.)

SDSU should be phenomenal this year. With Daum returning that makes them Summit title contenders right there. Brandon Key really showed incredible potential against Ohio State, dude was fun to watch. Tevin King is one of the Summits best defenders, and the rest of the team should be good. Maybe we’ll win a NCAA Tournament game this year.

It sounds like a good two day event and nice warm up for the Final Four.

MINNEAPOLIS — Before U.S. Bank Stadium hosts the Final Four next spring, the University of Minnesota and several other teams from the region will play in the first basketball games at the Vikings' venue this fall.

http://www.duluthnewstribune.com/sports/basketball/4476815-minnesota-ndsu-sdsu-men-will-be-part-four-game-basketball-classic-us-bank

North Dakota State and South Dakota State will also be part of the first-ever men's basketball event at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. The "U.S. Bank Stadium Basketball Classic" will feature four games played, headlined by Minnesota playing Oklahoma State on Nov. 30.
The University of St. Thomas (Minn.) will take on Wisconsin-River Falls before the Gophers game, while SDSU will face Northern Iowa as part of the Saturday evening doubleheader, with NDSU-Drake University (Iowa).

The wifey is a Drake alum. Looks like I won't be talking to her that week:D

No shot.

You don’t know how bad Drake is.

From last season - the second best season in 20 years (still only .500) they lost all but 4 scholarship players- including their top 7 8 statistical leaders in every category. The guys they kept are legit D2 kids - at best - that Drake got because no other nonD-3 in Iowa wanted.

They also lost their entire coaching staff and almost every recruit that had committed to their previous staff.

Their roster is 100% freshman, D3 post players and grad transfer guards from low majors. They are, far and away, projected to be the worst MVC team. Some are thinking they may go 0-18 in conference play.

They are BAD.

UNI/SDSU should be a good one. UNI has had a few issues the last two years that seem to have been sorted out. Massive addition by subtraction, if you will. Plus the additions are pretty good.

Chicago State has a coach. He is Lance Irvin. He has been an assistant at a bunch of places (including Southern Illinois), but never a head coach. He was an assistant at a Chicago high school (along with an administrative job) before getting this position.

The link gives a bunch of people singing his praises.

OOC
MIT - 11/6
Northeastern - 11/9
@UMass Amherst - 11/13
@Rhody - 11/16
Thanksgiving tour in the Bay Area:
@USF Dons - 11/21

Holy Cross - 11/28
@Vermont - 12/8
Finals Break - 12/9-12/21
George Washington - 12/22
Mercer (in Atlanta) - 12/29 or 12/30
@Tarholes - 1/2
McGill - 1/6 (I personally don't like Canadian schools being part of the schedule...)
@Howard - 1/21

Much less challenging than last year's but still a couple of big time basketball programs on the schedule.

Suggestion for Harvard AD and Amaker: Why not schedule Chicago schools in the future (e.g. Ramblers, Northwestern, Chicago State, etc.)?

Beat McGill 76-69

Not impressed by how the Jacks played but it’s preseason so I’m not to concerned. Though Carleton is unreal, I wonder how they’d stack up against teams like Kansas or Villanova. It’d be interesting.

Jacks will be fine, it’s preseason basketball in a Canadian tournament. They just need to fix some things and they’ll be fine. I still 100% believe SDSU will roll through the Summit this year, and hopefully make some noise in the tournament.

Don’t quote me on this but I think Carelton has plans on going into either the NCAA or NAIA. Citing lack of competition in their current league. They’d be a good addition I’d think based on recent results.

I'd like to see some more Canadian teams join the NCAA. D2 Simon Fraser is the only one so far. U of British Columbia could do that too- we need more D2 football teams in the Northwest.

Considering what they did to D1 schools, they’d be a very good D1 team.

A D1 Canadian school in the Northwest would be cool, all the professional leagues have Canadian teams so why not more in the NCAA? Would give Canadian kids a closer option to play.

A great note I saw on sdsufans is that in the last five years SDSU has a 94% win percentage in Frost. Have to remember that the years they used included some abysmal teams for the Jacks.

Wofford’s basketball schedule is out. It is highlighted by the season opener; a home game with the UNC Tarheels, who will come in looking for payback after the Terriers upset them last year. There also also several challenging road games against Power 5 competition that will get the Terriers ready for a run at a SoCon title and a 5th NCAA Tournament bid. Lots of talent returns, including one of the nation’s best three point shooters and scorers in Fletcher Magee. So hopes are high.

Colgate 2018-19 schedule released. Power conference trips include Syracuse, Pittsburgh, and Penn State. Some good mid-major foes as well like Monmouth and Florida Gulf Coast, plus the usual smattering of locals like Cornell, Marist, and Binghamton. 11 guys back from last year's PL runners up. Reasons to be optimistic, which is a strange feeling for Colgate Basketball.

Jacks also have 2 on preseason 1st team All Conference, with Mike Daum and David Jenkins.
I’m pumped for this year, in my opinion this’ll be the best SDSU team ever, SDSU needs that tournament win to finally emerge as a top Mid Major.
If the Coyotes drop off with losing their best player and ourstanding coach, SDSU rolls to the title.
Hope to see SDSU replicate Loyola’s run from last year, that’d be a great final year for Daum.

In a game I attended in Fairfax, VA, Penn overcame what appeared to be a serious injury to leading returning scorer Ryan Betley, a double foul/double technical foul on starter Antonio Woods that left him with 4 fouls late in the 1st half and forced him to sit for much of the 2nd half, AND 5 straight missed free throws in the last 20 seconds of regulation and 6-18 free throw shooting for the game to edge George Mason 72-71. Betley's injury occurred about 5 minutes into the game directly under the George Mason basket on a non-contact play after an in-bounds pass; he had to be helped from the floor and was putting no weight on his right leg when he left the floor. To me, it looked like he tore his ACL, but we'll see what the official medical report is. Besides their free throw adventures, Penn did a good job executing on both ends of the floor in the last few minutes of the game to earn the come-from-behind win; they trailed by as many as 9 points in the 2nd half.

That UNI Bemidji game wasnt as one as the score either

UNI pulled starters with 13 min left in the game.

UNI had true walk on walk on players play 10 minutes. I mean guys who attended an open try out to be practice bodies a week before that BSU game. They didn't even have names on their uniforms

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181110/56fc9e14ed8d1eff25c946884ccc0f93.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181110/1f2de36d9ab172ef14c331fc7c34b24d.jpg

Pulling the starters and main reserves was the right move. But man I'd have loved to go after the scoring record in a game of 123 (which was OT). We'd have gotten there.

UNI was also missing 2 starters for the game. One is a 6'4 sophomore that was top 10 in the nation for rebounds for guys 6'4 and under. I think he finished the season at 9 points 9 boards. He was a 10 10 guy as a true freshman most of the season.

The other is our starting center and only "true" post.

We have 3 guys that are 6'10 but are a combo type player. Can play post but ay out just as well.

I can't wait for the SDSU UNI game.

If Temple were to maintain our current level and Georgia would return the Ray Goff/Jim Donnan type ups and downs there would be a chance. But the stars would really have to align.

Temple historically is a much better bball school than most of those in the SEC. I actually like Tom Crean. He's a little goofy but he came across really well while working for ESPN.

Lehigh played excellent defense, holding Princeton to 28.3% shooting from the field, in beating the Tigers 72-57 at Stabler Arena, a game I attended. The game was tight in the 1st half and the Mountain Hawks led 28-26 at halftime, but they used a flurry of buckets early in the 2nd half to go on a 21-4 run to start the half. Despite a late Princeton run that cut the lead to single digits, Lehigh was never seriously threatened the rest of the way and posted their third win of the young season.

Still can't figure out why Lehigh can't get one attractive OOC opponent to come to Stabler. All over the country I see power conference schools traveling to the "little guy". The night before Lafayette would be perfect. Temple, Seton Hall, St. John's, Georgetown, Villanova, Penn State, Rutgers, Pitt, Boston College, UConn could all be possible with a little effort.

I went to a Temple-Lafayette bball game at Kirby the night before the 2008 LU-LC battle. It was a blast!

IMO, both Lehigh and Lafayette should look into scheduling a home-and-home with a “name” opponent where LU/LC plays the home game at the PPL Center in Allentown. It is an asset the two schools should utilize from time to time IMO.

How about a double header the night before the football game at the PPL Center with Lehigh and Lafayette playing "name programs"? Call it the "Rivalry Invitational". Lehigh vs Pitt and Lafayette vs Seton Hall or something along those lines. That would generate some buzz for both schools and the general sports fans in the Lehigh Valley.

After I posted my comment, I had the same idea. A doubleheader with Lehigh and Lafayette playing back-to-back games against different bigger name opponents the night before (could also be the day after) would expand the weekend’s festivities in a positive way IMO.

North Alabama led most of the game against Pitt. They couldn't overcome a staggering deficit from the free throw line (8-13 compared to 31-42 for the ACC team) but still had a chance to tie with 4 seconds left but could not convert.

Not bad for a first year D1 program with a first time head coach, EIGHT freshmen on the roster along with 2 seniors and a couple of juniors. They hung with the Panthers after playing Atlantic 10 favorites Saint Louis tight earlier in the week.

Furman’s win yesterday over Villanova was a very good one for the Paladins and for the SoCon. I think the SoCon is definitely very strong this season at the top...UNC Greensboro, Wofford, Furman, and ETSU are all very good mid-major teams right now in my opinion. It should be a fun year on the basketball court.

The Terriers take on Oklahoma today in Norman after having a game at Stanford Friday night cancelled due to wildfires. Hopefully we can add another good out of conference win to the SoCon resume...and not let those darn purple people one-up us...xthumbsupx

I didn't expect to win but these Bison teams under Richman are a joke. His weave offense is worthless and he loves playing basically 4 guards all the time.

Every major team or mid major for that fact kills us. Our AD (Larsen) better not give him an extension. Richman hasn't done squat with his own recruits. NDSU invested in BB with the new arena, now invest in a new coach that can actually coach and develop talent.

Well I have to say we are off to a good start in hoops. I don't follow it very much. Probably since we haven't had a winning season in 10 years or so. And not too many before that. Was never a basketball fan. We are usually somewhere around 330 out 353 or so, but we are winning some lately beating JMU, South Florida and High Point in a row. Unfortunately, Wofford and Furman are off the a good start as well with Furman even knocking off Nova. But with ETSU and NC-G to deal with as well, it will be a tough conf season. But we are making progress. Massey has us up to 168/353 which is remarkable for us. We will see.

Pretty quiet on the UNI side. Some activity on their fan board, not much, some melt down. My favorite is below. A couple seem to want their head coach fired. I recall when this game was announced, figured it would be a blood bath.

The reality is that SDSU is far better then UNI, and would finish one or two in the MVC. That game last night was a joke from tip off to final buzzer. USD and DU would both compete well in the MVC this year, and likely the future as both programs are on the rise. The "Summit is terrible" line coming out of our MVFC mates is pretty freaking funny.

There were some negative comments on Twitter about Furman making the rankings. The detractors claim that they won't be there at the end of the year. Well, the poll isn't for the end of the year, it is for accomplishments now. I posted that and of course took heat for it from blueblood program fans. Lehigh played an excellent first 25 minutes and then played a terrible 13 minutes but still managed to hold off host Mount St. Mary's 85-78 in a game I attended. The Mountain Hawks played excellent on both ends of the floor, particularly on the defensive end, in building a 42-24 halftime lead and then extending that lead to 57-31 about 5 minutes into the 2nd half. The game then changed on a dime, as Mount St. Mary's started to press Lehigh and exhibited much spacing on the offensive end, both of which gave the Mountain Hawks significant problems. Mount St. Mary's gradually cut into their deficit, and cut it from 26 points to 5 points (73-68) with a little more than 2 minutes left. Lehigh was able to finally steady the ship, do a better job against the MSM pressure, and made most of their free throws (many of them by Kyle Leufroy, who led the Mountain Hawks with 21 points; he also picked up a key charge with about 15 seconds left) to hold on and win. Lehigh improved to 6-3 with the win, while Mount St. Mary's remained winless and fell to 0-9.

The Socon is stacked in basketball this year.

Wofford looks as good or better than we ever have been. We have one of the best shooters in the country (Fletcher Magee) and our big man (Cam Jackson) is putting up some crazy stats. And we finally got back to playing defense, the staple of our NCAA tournament teams. Right now, we're sitting at 9-3 with only losses to UNC, Oklahoma (which were respectable) and #2 Kansas (who we out-rebounded, but had an uncharacteristically cold night shooting the ball; we led in the second half but the cold streak caught up to us and lost by 25). I know I'm a wofford hype man, but if you want to watch good basketball this year, watch the Terriers. Every game we've played has been fun in its own way.

ETSU is a team whose formula is to get a lot of JUCOs and transfers and it works for them. They won the socon a couple years ago and they will be TOUGH.

Furman is undefeated and ranked but what's crazy is that they have a better chance of finishing fourth in the socon than going undefeated in the regular season.

UNCG brings most of the nucleus back of a team that won the Socon tournament last year. They played Kentucky tough for 30 minutes.

I don't see Furman going undefeated all season, but they have won 16 straight regular season games. That's incredibly impressive work by Bob Richey and his staff, who lost a lot of their starters off last year's team.

A few national writers are discussing Furman as an at large. Long way to go before that, but if Furman can knock off LSU and maybe lose 3 or 4 games, they'd be hard to overlook.

But their situation can become as precarious as Monmouth has had twice in this decade; going undefeated OOC but losing 4 games in the weak MAAC really hurt their at-large chances. They were bounced in the first round of the NIT (not intended for tournament).

Bob Richey is a good interview. You can tell he has a passion for the game and this school.

That Furman has kept its composure through this is indicative of what sort of team they have put together. This isn't a situation where a team pulls an upset in the tournament and is famous for two days. Furman has had to deal with the growing national attention that continues to escalate each game. Richey even comments that it wasn't long ago he was doing post-game interview to one or two members of the media and now is doing them before a pool.

He's brought a high level of energy to a school that really does not have much of a basketball tradition. There were 650 students at the game Tuesday night, which may not seem like much, but it is roughly 25% of Furman's student body.

Temple got a huge 77-75 OT win over a good Davidson team. Quinton Rose stole the ball with 6 seconds left and slammed it home with a just over a tick left.

Our next game is Drexel on 12/22 then we start AAC play. I think we're a fringe tournament team as of now. We defend well and our guards are good. But our post play is terrible and we're super streaky shooting the 3.

Wofford lost to Mississippi State the other night, who is ranked, and a good team. The frustrating thing about Wofford is that we know we're good (At this moment, though it will definitely update as the season progresses, we're 39 in ESPN BPI including 56 SOS, which is probably the highest a socon team has been since Curry's elite 8 Davidson squad), it's just that the hedonic treadmill has kicked in and our 4 losses to ranked teams (3 on the road) in which we had a lead in all of them don't feel so good. We piledrove South Carolina by 20, which was worse than Virginia did yesterday. We're 9-4 and we led in the second half against 3 of those 4 ranked teams, but for whatever reason we couldn't get it together. I think had we played Stanford, we would have won and would be sitting at 10-4, which would look kind of good beating 2 P5 team and losing to a few ranked teams.

The big game is tonight between Furman and LSU. Furman has cut through a weak schedule like a knife through hot butter (their SOS is ranked 313 of like ~350 D1 teams), but they are still a good/very good/great team. Right now, UNC Greensboro (the socon team that doesn't play football) looks down as their all-conference and DPOTY center is injured and ETSU is having a down year, so it may be Wofford and Furman competing for the Socon title. I don't think Furman deserves their ranking and I think it's unlikely they become an at large, but that doesn't mean they won't finish the season with less than 5 losses and can't win the socon. I think Wofford and Furman will meet 3 times this year and it's unlikely either team sweeps.

Should be a good game tonight, too bad you have to have SEC network + to watch.

Hard to try to explain away Furman too much. The Paladins have beaten two final four teams and won 18 straight regular season games. Most teams in college basketball would love to have that resume.

I think Furman and Wofford are going to battle it out for the title. I don't see many losses lining up for Furman in SoCon play. Wofford has the best guard (McGee) and Furman the best big (Rafferty).

https://twitter.com/Eric_Edholm/status/1075847834266726402

What is probably most concerning for the rest of the SoCon is Furman is doing this having just graduated four senior starters. There are only two seniors in Furman's entire rotation.

I'm not playing up Furman's schedule. Furman scheduled a couple of cupcakes presumably because they had half the final four from last season on the schedule this year. I don't think that takes away for one minute what they've accomplished as a team. 18 consecutive regular season wins doesn't happen by accident.

I'm personally surprised the Paladins are undefeated, but they are a really good basketball team. They are on a run that is virtually unheard of for a SoCon team. If they beat LSU tonight, there's a lot of talk of them making a run at an at large bid. Hard to see too many teams after tonight tripping them up.

I'm proud of Furman's fight tonight. They really didn't have a lot working for them against a good team on the road. Some guys went into foul trouble early. In spite of that, the Paladins kept the game within single digits most of the night and only really faded inside the final two minutes.

I think the SoCon's RPI has been 10th most of the year. Very respectable for a mid-major conference.

I noted this elsewhere, but I do not think the conference has a team as good as Davidson was 10 years ago. I also think the SoCon is a lot deeper than it was then too. Even the "bad" teams are pretty good.

A pair of games were played at Philadelphia's historic Palestra today (Saturday 12/22); I attended both of them.

In the first game, Temple kept Drexel at bay for most of the game and pulled away in the last 8 1/2 minutes to post an 82-64 win. The key IMO was turnovers; Temple forced 16 turnovers, most of them live ball turnovers, including 8 steals, while Drexel managed to only come up with 8 turnovers and 2 steals. It was a solid performance by the Owls, a team that has many close games this season. On the other side of the ball, the Dragons deserve credit for playing hard the entire game, even if they came up short.

In the second game, St. Joe's and Loyola (IL) didn't set the game of basketball back a million years; it only seemed that way. It had a good ending though; the Hawks hit a game-winning 3 pointer with 0.4 seconds left after the Ramblers tied the game in the last 10 seconds after trailing most of the way. Both teams turned the ball a lot, struggled to hit shots, played good defense, and did an excellent job blocking out and holding the opponent to one shot per possession. To illustrate the points, St. Joe's only had 5 assists for the game, while Loyola (IL) had one offensive rebound in 40 minutes.

We’ve been inconsistent all year. It’s like nobody on the team seems to care that much, this team could easily be undefeated but instead we’re 10-5. This team should still win the Summit but if we play like that come Summit Tournament time, we can kiss the NCAA Tournament goodbye, and buy our tickets for the NIT.

Lehigh opens PL Conference play hosting arch-rival Lafayette at Stabler Arena. Mountain Hawks enter with a 7-4 OOC record and leading the nation in 3 point shooting percentage. Veteran perimeter players, shooting and ball handling, but the interior is the big project with two youngsters learning the ropes. Engineers should take care of the Leotards and start momentum toward a league title and a return to March Madness.

Colgate finished a solid 8-5 in OOC play, with 3 P5 losses. Unbeaten at home, though not a terribly tough slate. Not sure if this team is quite as good as last season, but I expect them to be in the thick of things in the PL

One thing about PL basketball, there is usually a great amount of parity. While there are years when one team appear head and shoulders over the others, it seems that of the ten schools 7-8 are usually fairly competitive.

Watching this game now..

Lafayette is on fire offensively. Lehigh better tighten things up or they're going to start league play with a disappointing loss. It's a shame this game is being played now when the students are on break and the locals are still in football/holiday mode.

Lehigh survived 86-83. The Mountain Hawks got two huge breaks at the end. First break was on a foul called when Coen (not related) drove to the lane and I guess was touched. The second break was on a lane violation on his first FT attempt. There was clearly not a violation or anything close. The ref flat out blew that call or had a hundo in his back pocket. At worst Lafayette should have gotten the ball back down 2 with about 10 seconds left.....

Harvard lost to the Tarholes by 20. We're conceding to the P's now... for the Ivy supremacy.

Just got home from a hearing and saw the end of the postgame show. Comments were that Lehigh showed how good they are because they made a lot of mistakes and were still able to overcome them to win. Shooting 11/14 from three point land will cover up a lot of mistakes. Any game in any sport against Laughyette is always tough regardless of record. I agree that it was lousy scheduling to have this game with the students gone. Probably would have had 3-4,000 instead of the 1-1,500 I estimated. Good to get the first league win. Loyola up next on Sunday.

SDSU craps the bed again and gets destroyed by Fort Wayne 104-88.
This team is a joke, for all the talent they have and be 11-6? This team will be lucky to win the Summit League, I have no confidence in them.

Wofford has a very good team this year. Right now, we're sitting at 11-4. Our 4 losses are to teams ranked in the top 25 and were competitive in the second half (Kansas slipped away as we got cold shooting).

Meanwhile, 10 of our 11 wins have come by double digits and I want to say we had a 15 point + lead in all of those games except maybe High Point (which we controlled the whole way). Last night, we suplexed a pretty good Citadel team by 30. Fletcher Magee only needs 4 3 pointers to break Steph Curry's socon record. At this point in his career, Curry took about 57 more shots than Magee.

After Wednesday's win over Laughyette, Lehigh leads nation in 3-point shooting approaching 50%. Shot 11/14 against LC. However, with our anemic rebounding he HAVE to make those shots!

I think the SoCon will eventually end up a four-team race between ETSU, UNCG, Furman, and Wofford.

We may not see separation until one of those four teams beats another on the road. Furman shoots for 12 straight home wins at Timmons, with the last loss coming to UNCG in February of last season.

Timmons has its issues as a basketball arena, but it's becoming one of the more difficult places to win in D1 basketball.

Furman pours it on late to beat an always dangerous and pesky Citadel to move to 14-2.
