What, no last game of the year gateway show down in the dome for the conference title this year? I wonder why SIU wanted to back out of that deal?

Its basketball season.

It is basketball season.
I think most SIU fans view football as something to do until basketball season starts. Basketball is the undisputed king of sports in Southern Illinois. I would like to see that change. I can only hope that an elite basketball program can help us elevate our football program.
I'm a little disappointed that we are playing Div. II Quincy. I would rather see us play a second BCS team or a quality FCS team instead of these cupcakes.

Is Quincy D3 or NAIA?
I like the Hampton game because Hampton needs to play some top notch competition to see how they stack up before the playoffs. My early gut feeling is SIU by 13-17 though.

I like that SIU - Hampton matchup.
A nice inter-regional game between two solid teams. We need more of that in FCS football.

Qunicy is a D2 school that plays in a NAIA football conference, bc their league doesnt sponsor football yet. Weird deal to explain, but basically they are a D2.

Watch out with that Hampton game, I know they have graduated some key players, but we got crushed in our last trip out east.
I understand that we had a down year that year, but they always field a competitive and quick team with speed at the skill positions. Taylor runs a quality program.

I like the schedule - good mix of teams and regions - SIU normally is one of the better schools in doing this. Kudos. xthumbsupx

2 hbcu's?
A 2006 MEAC Conference Champion and playoff team, and a SWAC 2006Division winner and Conference runner up... not too bad for out of conference.
