WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – The University of Pennsylvania men's heavyweight crews opened competition at the IRA National Championship Regatta, which is taking place throughout the weekend at Mercer Lake. Both of the Quakers' Eights were in the hunt for spots in Saturday's upper semifinal rounds but could not quite punch their tickets to a guaranteed top-12 finish.
