Here is a little pre-season piece on our new scoreboards. There is a nice drawing of how the board will look at the link below:

BROOKINGS - South Dakota State fans and athletes will get a whole new experience this fall when they attend home games at Coughlin-Alumni Stadium and Frost Arena.

SDSU began work early this week on preparing Coughlin, the football stadium, for a new state-of-the-art scoreboard, with the goal to have the system up and running when the Jacks open the 2005 season on Sept. 3. . . .

Impressive. I wish that they would have a larger picture so we could see the details. I quickly checked the SDSU site as well and couldn't find it. if you happen to come across one please post.

Well you guys are lucky. Yours is done!

Daktronics has dropped the ball so far on the new McNeese football scoreboard. It was supposed to be done and tested on Cowboy Night next Wednesday. Below is a picture of what the scoreboard looks like today. This picture was taken two weeks ago but it still looks like this as of today.

Hmmmm..... I wonder if the Daktronics boys stopped working on the McNeese scoreboard to finish up the one in their hometown (aka Brookings, SD- home of SDSU)?

Those scoreboards go up quick once the structure is in place. Daktronics managed to get their system in place at the Fargodome in less than a month, and that included two scoreboards that are over 34 x100 feet, four video boards separate from the scoreboards that are 17 x 23 feet, four stat boards, and an outdoor sign.

Both of those scoreboards will look nice once completed.

You will be surprised how fast they can "hang" the rest of the board. They still have three working days to get r done. As long as all the pieces are there, and ready to go, they still have plenty of time.

All the adds have been sold for a few years in advance.

Should not only pay for all new score boards in all sports venues but should earn us a nice check as well.

Those add's are worth about $50K a year each.

McNeese,

How old was the scoreboard you are replacing? It looked like it had seen it's better days, but was really nice when it was new.

We put that old Scoreboard up in 1996.

It had an old analog TV screen.

The new one will be a crystal clear digital one.

The one thing about this scoreboard replacement is it also comes with an all new sound system, which to be honest, was needed more than a new score board.

But this one will allow us to make more money in advertsing and sponsorships.

We've already rasied over $1Million in ads and sponsorships as a result of not only this board, but all the new scoreboards and ad boards around campus that are also being replaced or added.

I don't know if you have had a chnace to see one of these screens in person, but they are awesome. Durring our Scholarship auction and golf tourney they had one behind the main speaker podium. It was like watching my Big Screen at home only much larger!

The University just put some new pictures up showing some of the other touches that went along with our scoreboard project. Here is a look at a couple of pics.

This shot gives some perspective of how much bigger the new board is compared to the old one. Only one word comes to mind . . . WOW!

This project is really going to dress up Coughlin-Alumni, the fans are in for a treat on Sept. 3rd. I can't hardly wait.

Yes,

They brought a portable one to one of our TV games last year and placed it right next to our old board. It was truley awesome and really showed us how bad our old one really was.

This photo adds under the stadium look great.

Finishing touches for SDSU's scoreboard
Jackrabbits open football season Saturday evening

BROOKINGS - The parking lot at Coughlin-Alumni Stadium has become somewhat of a roadside attraction.

A slow trickle of cars circled through the newly repaved lot on Sunday, with drivers and passengers gawking at the progress being made on the massive scoreboard construction inside the stadium's gates.

Saturday is South Dakota State's first football game, against Wisconsin-LaCrosse. Daktronics employees and construction workers are putting the finishing touches on the new system - a gigantic 40-yard wide-by-56-feet high scoreboard that has a 17-by-28 feet video board. . . . (read more)

i like how they have the total yards for both teams on the board, really lets the fans know more about the game as its going on

i always find myself looking at the box score after the same to see the total yardage for each team, nice idea!!

We have been in line to get a scoreboard for two years now. I think the AD is dragging his feet on this one. The money is there for it. I know for sure we are getting new turf next year. I think we will be putting in SpinTurf (?) along with a new scoreboard sometime.

Nice scoreboard Jackrabbits!!

Your ads are worse than McNeese! BTW, the yards gained is a great feature. That's one of the few things (maybe the only thing) that is good about our board at UD.

NDSU has some nice scoreboards in the Fargodome. In addition to the yards gained boards (one on each side), there is another board that shows sacks, turnovers, and stop for loss.

Pretty impressive score board 89Rabbit. Does Daktronics work well with SDSU? Did they give you some sort of pricing "discount" because one of the founders of the company is an alumn? We really need a new one at Nottingham Field.

I'm happy to see this stuff as Colgate inked with Daktronics for next season. This gives me a good idea of what we're going to do. Dimensions are a little different, but that's the general idea for Colgate.
