Sadly, the only streak of winning seasons that Nicholls State has ever had ran from the 1984-1986 seasons (3 seasons). The team was 6-5, 6-5 and 10-3 in those three seasons, winning the Gulf Star Conference title in 1984. In 1986, the Colonels went to the I-AA playoffs for the first time in school history, defeating App State 28-26 in the 1st round before losing the Georgia Southern 55-31 in round 2.

JMU's longest string is 5 seasons from '74-'78. This was pre Division I though. Since going to Div I, our longest string of winning seasons has been 4, occuring twice, from '93-'96, and our current string from '03 up until now ('03 was a 6-6 season, but I'm still counting it ;))

Fordham started playing football in 1882 and had 40 consecutive winning seasons, suffering its first losing season in 1922. Fordham also had 14 consecutive winning seasons from 1929 through 1942. After the 1942 season, football was discontinued due to WWII and not reinstated until 1946.

Fordham played 61 seasons between 1882 and 1942 and only had five losing seasons.

UCD's streak is the longest in the modern era above the Division III level. A number of the early football schools had extended runs of winning seasons from the late 1800s well into the 20th century.

I was pointing out that MplsBison didn't know what he was talking about, since EKU05 said that EKU has 29 in a row in FCS (second longest in D-I), and he was comparing it to UCD, which has three in D-I, I guess. UCD has the longer streak, but not in D-I.

I was also trying to point out to you that the EKU05 stated clearly that it's 29 winning seasons, 34 non-losing seasons at this time. It seemed you didn't get what he was saying, sorry if I was wrong.

EKU does have a long streak. In recent years they have had many 6-5 seasons.. but they have been able to to avoid those 5-6 years.

The longest streak at UND that I can remember is 12 from 1990 through 2001. If they had been able to win just one more game in 2002 to go 6-5 rather than 5-6 the streak would still be alive at 17.

We haven't been held under 200 yards offensively since 1969 I believe. Not sure how far back the scoreless streak goes back, but UND almost ended it in the '02 playoffs I think when they beat us 14-2.

in response to the post about not being ranked - you are correct - - we have not been in the playoffs since 1997 and would guess that the last time we were ranked in the top 25 at the end of the year was 2002. since then we have been 7-5, 6-5, 7-4 and 6-5 and have tended to start slow and end strong - which tends to keep you out of the top 25. but the winning streak continues.

It's just message board back and forth stuff. For the record, I don't think UCD's streak unimpressive. It's just odd of have had this streak to hold over everyone's head and then, in one sense, someone now has a longer one than us even though ours was never broken...though it came awfully close this past season when we had to rally from a 2-5 start to finish 6-5.

We too have had a few 6-5 seasons since going 1AA (now FCS) and had to make good comebacks to keep the streak going (beating Stanford was a big one we needed to do this). UCD's streak is more impressive if you realize it was done without schollies until going 1AA (or if you are a Sac fan will say , UCD offered grants in aid -which amounted to 7 full rides over 100+ players) while competing against schollie schools for 20+ years. This year we will have more schollie players on the field, and should see a resurgence of our running game to go along with our passing game.
Talent wise, this year's team may be the best Aggie team yet. We have had some losses on "O" and "D", but the newbies should be good enough to improve here.

Towson had a 14 year winning season streak back from 1974 to 1986. We were D.III and D.II in those years. In terms of IAA/FCS winning season streak, 1992 to 1996, 5 years.

Currently looking to make it 3 in a row in the CAA.
