I've often said that JSU has the easiest route to the National Title game of any team in the country. They are virtually guaranteed to start the season highly ranked, walk through their conference, and end up with a seed and home games throughout much of the postseason.

Last night's loss complicates matters for them. They are still a playoff team, but there are just not that many "good" teams on their schedule to raise their profile, especially after losing to one of maybe only two top 25 teams they'll play all season.

This loss doesn't mean a lot in the grand scheme of playoff selection, but it does open the door to a seed that may otherwise have not really been available to other playoff contenders.

Very sloppy game really on both sides. A&T only gained a total of 148 yards (111 passing and 37 rushing). Then JSU had MORE yards than that in penalties (149). Special teams, penalties, and the aforementioned failed FG try on 4th and short seemed to be the difference.

All that being said, the game still counts (just like any other team who gets an "ugly" win). So congrats to A&T - they beat a higher-ranked team and deserve to be in the top-25 at this stage.

Yes. Was it a good win, that remains to be seen. The only way we will know if that is a good win is if JSU throttles KSU and KSU throttles their schedule. Is NCAT a T25 team? Yes. Are they a T10 team? No.

This isn't us hating on the MEAC, this is us trying to rationally explain to you that JSU was not as good as they said they were. NCAT need a to take the win in stride as both teams were technically on the road and it was a solid boost for the program, but boasting about how they beat a T10 team is not true.

Their D showed up and played well. I would imagine that NCAT will go undefeated again so we won't see them in the playoffs, which is unfortunate.

If JSU would have won, the playoff lovers over here would have used it to continue to justify how HBCUs have got the short end of the stick when it comes to rankings and playoff bids.

That NCAT win ties everything up in a neat little bow for us as far as how underrated HBCU football is at the highest level and how it can compete with the upper echelon as far as real FCS teams are concerned (not pretend ones). A&T, Grambling, NCCU, Alcorn and BCU can compete with most of the real FCS teams but you won't see the EWUs and JSUs do home and home with these teams because they feel traveling to a HBCU is beneath them.

A 6-5 WIU team does not deserve a playoff bid over a 9-2 ranked BCU team. Simple and plain as that.

You can not want to hear it all you want but it’s the truth. It’s a big win for A&T, for sure. But don’t start acting like some fanbases that claim top ten victories at the end of the year against a team that ended with a 6-5 record or worse.

Also, I don’t think you’ll find many, if any at all, posts of mine bashing the SWAC or MEAC. The second half of the game looked better, and really what I expected the whole game to be like. What I don’t expect is two teams that are supposed to be top ten having more penalty yards than offense (JSU), offsides on the center, more 15 yard penalties than first downs, and for one team to not be able to muster more than one touchdown after the other team damn near tries to hand the game to you with mistake after mistake in the first half. It was an ugly, ugly game that did nothing to prove top ten worthiness for either team tbh. And I truly came into this game excited to see reasons to boost their rankings while being prepared to spar with the people who poo pooed the game, but instead I get an horrendously ugly game that managed to mostly convince me of the opposite.

That game was like watching an 80 year old stripper. Equal parts horrifying, fascinating, but overall pretty boring.

With that being said. NC A&T IMO is probably 10-13 team right now. Cocky State was pretty good on the defensive line which made the a&T offense look worse than they are. However they will not be elite unless that O line gets a bunch better. absolute sieve. A&T defense is legit and they'll walk through their conference.

Jacksonville state needs to fire their head coach. Has anyone done less with more? Consistently having NFL talent drafted year in and year out but can't control his team at all against anyone with a pulse. And can't develop a QB to save his life. And always seems out of his element making calls in big games. ie that field goal on 4th and 1. He gets way to much credit for winning in a terrible conference. They should never have lost that game yesterday. Terrible play calling on O.

So the MEAC champ beat a seeded FCS playoff team that gets blasted in the round of 16 at home. Nice win and I will put them 12-15 in my poll. I had JSU at 11 preseason.

Don't remember the temp and humidity off hand but in 2013 when ndsu went to K state it worked out pretty well. NDSU respects the hell out of the elements and regularly plans for them when applicable. Haven't had issues cramping in many moons. The bison would absolutely stomp grambling or BCU anywhere anytime. They would win on ice, in space, in your backyard. I literally think we could march the 2nds out right now and take them to the woodshed.

Right now in Orlando it is 89 degrees, 56% humidity, dew point of 72
Right now in Macomb it is 91 degrees, 63% humidity, dew point of 76
Grambling is a bit hotter at 97 degrees, but only 40% humidity and dew point of 62

I do realize that it's hot for longer down south, we occasionally get breaks from the heat...you guys don't, but I'm pretty sure that on any given specific day, it could easily have a higher dew point in the upper midwest than down in FL or elsewhere in the south. NDSU can handle it, trust me.

Anyway, congrats on NC A&T on the win. Regardless of where you thought JSU should be in preseason polls (personally, I thought that both WIU and JSU should have been in the 15-20 range), lots of people consider them a very good team that is a perennial playoff participant. It was an early season ugly game for both teams, but it's not like one team had a distinct advantage over the other in practice time and experience. They pulled out the win and congrats to them. I do wish that we could see the best teams of the SWAC and MEAC in the playoffs, but that's entirely up to them if they want to do that or if the HBCU championship game is worth it to keep doing.
