He has a shot.
Do you have a guess for a 40 for Goedert? He dont think he ran at the combine or his pro day.

NFL network guys mocked Dallas Goedert at the end on the first and Kyle Lauletta at the end of the second to New England.

If Kyle goes to them then I think he does well. I see him as a solid backup and mid round guy but if they take him and groom him to replace Brady it would not shock me.
Goedert could go anywhere from 28-40 range for sure. I would take him in round one. He is athletic and has very good hands.

Who's likely to go highest for us? Neal?

Neal. The others may not get drafted but you have at least 3 who will be a free agent or tryout I would imagine.

UCA's Tremon Smith may go late rounds...but he's so busy BEFORE the draft that he has NO free time!

The draft is very tough because I know some folks have certain players completely off the board for off field issues while other folks have players much higher than others or lower than others.
If I had to guess below is what I would say and then I'll list group of PFAs who I could see as most likely to surprise in 5-7.
2nd
TE Dallas Goedert, SDSU
3rd
LB Darius Leonard, SCSU
QB Kyle Lauletta, Richmond
OT Brandon Parker, NCAT
4th
DT PJ Hall, SHSU
WR Daurice Fountain, UNI
CB Davontae Harris, Illinois St
5th
WR Justin Watson, Penn
OG Skyler Phillips, Idaho St
CB Taron Johnson, Weber St
6th
DT Bilal Nichols, Delaware
DE John Franklin, SFA
CB Tremon Smith, UCA
S/CB Siran Neal, JSU
7th
OG Jamil Demby, Maine
CB Mike Ford, SEMO
CB Danny Johnson, Southern
QB Peter Pujals, Holy Cross
WR Jaelon Acklin, WIU
OT Greg Senat, Wagner
PFA- These could easily get drafted
LB Darius Jackson, JSU
LB Nick DeLuca, NDSU
RB Martez Carter, Grambling
RB Roc Thomas, JSU
WR Jake Wieneke, SDSU
CB D'Montre Wade, Murray St
P Joe Zema, Incarnate Word

I could see him getting drafted in the 6th or 7th round. There is no knock and personally I would take him ahead of Pujals or Senat. I was just putting my guess as to how the draft could go. If he had tested a little better I would have projected a strong argument by area scouts in the 6th or 7th for him but he still could get drafted.

South Carolina TE Hayden Hurst (and 25th overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft) in his career: 100 catches, 1281 yards, 3 TDs
South Dakota St TE Dallas Goedert (undrafted in the 1st round) in 2016 alone: 92 catches, 1293 yards, 11 TDs
I guess Baltimore really likes blocking or something.

there is more than just stats involved in drafting..maybe DG didn't do so well in one on one interviews, etc...
Remember when those were huge for Carson to be perfect at when being considered for the 1st round

Maybe he did, maybe he didn't. Seems more likely to me that the excuse is the old tired level of competition garbage that holds back most top FCS prospects.

It has nothing to do with that. Wentz and others have gone in round one. Goedert was considered a very late 1st or early to mid 2nd round guy all along. Someone will take him in round 2. He got hurt in Mobile and never ran the 40. Hurst had a lot of catches and yards just like Goedert did so it is not like Hurst is just a blocker. He is considered good at both. Goedert is a very good second round talent.

Who knows how close the Ravens had them graded and for all I know Hurst may turn out to be the better pro but I just don't see much reasoning for him being picked over Goedert other than he's proven to be a better blocker and played against better competition in college.
And that's plenty reason enough btw if that's what a team values most in their TEs but the contrast in their receiving numbers is certainly eye opening.

Well, Goedert definitely drafted into the best situation of the top 3 TEs. It'll be the Dakota connection in Philly!

Chris Chambers and George Odum get UDFA shots...

And that's plenty reason enough btw if that's what a team values most in their TEs but the contrast in their receiving numbers is certainly eye opening.
First of all one player did his damage in the SEC and the other was in FCS. If you wanted to even do a stats comparison then divide Goedert's by 3 and that would about equal doing what Hurst did in the SEC. The level of competition is not even close in the eyes of NFL teams so you can't ever compare players in that regard. Goedert went to a good situation and he is certainly a good player who I don't think got slighted. Had he fallen to the 4th round or late 3rd round then maybe something unfair was going on.
When you look at numbers look at the career of Blanding at UVA. He was a 4-year starter, 2017 2nd team All-American, 2017 unanimous 1st team All-ACC, 137 tackles in 2017, 2016 1st team All-ACC, 2015 1st team All-ACC, and 2014 2nd team All-ACC and ACC DEF ROY from a Power 5 conference and he went undrafted. If it was all about stats then he would have been a top 50 pick.
