PHILADELPHIA - After poor field conditions forced a venue change from Meiklejohn Stadium to Smithson Field, Penn (5-14, 1-2 Ivy) failed to overcome the hostile conditions at fellow Big Five member Saint Joseph's (9-11, 0-3 Atlantic-10), falling to the Hawks in extra innings by a tight 7-4 margin. The Quakers offense closed the gap with three combined runs in the seventh and ninth frames, but play was suspended due to darkness to Wednesday afternoon; Saint Joseph's quickly retook the lead once the game started up again - blasting a three-run homer over the left-field fence - and Penn was unable to come up with an answer during the bottom half of the 10th, finalizing the 7-4 mark.
