Defending Champs Open Spring Practice Monday
by Appalachian Sports Information

February 25, 2007 - BOONE, N.C. – Two-time-defending NCAA Division I football national champion Appalachian State University officially begins preparations for the 2007 season on Monday with the open of spring practice sessions at Kidd Brewer Stadium.

Per NCAA regulations, Appalachian can hold up to 15 practice sessions over the course of 34 days (not counting ASU’s spring break, which runs March 10-18).

Due to unpredictable weather and personnel situations that may arise, the Mountaineers have not released a full schedule for spring drills. Updates, including practice reports and notice of open scrimmages, will be posted throughout the month at GoASU.com.

Appalachian returns 17 starters (seven offense, six defense, four specialists), including four all-Americans (OG Kerry Brown, QB Armanti Edwards, DB Corey Lynch and RB Kevin Richardson) from last year’s squad, which won its second-straight national title with a 28-17 victory over Massachusetts on Dec. 15, 2007 in Chattanooga, Tenn.

The Apps open the 2007 campaign on Sept. 1 at Michigan.

Shouldn't be too bad up on the mountain today. In the 50's in the foothills. I heard the ASU offensive staff in Charlotte over the weekend and thought they did a good job. I know Coach Elliott was fired up and already getting ready for the 2007 season.
