I'm disappointed this year, no 1st timers in the tourney yet. Portland St. goes down so forget them. That leaves TAMU-CC and Sacred Heart with the best chances of getting in. N.Texas in for the first time since 1988, thats the best thing so far.

The A-10 Tourney starts at Noon today in Atlantic City, and this biggest question is, will the A-10 get more than one bid. Xavier and UMass are co-champs for the regular season, but the X has the upper hand having beaten UMass in their only meeting. Here's the basic set-up for today:

# 8 Dayton vs # 9 Charlotte
#5 Fordham vs # 12 Richmond
#7 St. Louis vs #10 Duquesne
#6 St. Joseph’s vs #11 Temple

Tomorrow, the quarter finals take place, with the top four seeds playing todays' winners.

# 1 Xavier vs Winner of Dayton/Charlotte
#2 UMass vs winner of St. Louis/Duquesne
#3 George Washington vs winner of St Joe/Temple
#4 Rhode Island vs winner of Fordham/Richmond

Good luck to all, but especially to UMass

At 20-11, and a RPI in the 150's -16. Some will depend on who wins some of the other tourneys.

oh I know, always have been
Idaho hasn't always been bad. They were one of the top teams in the country in the early 1980s when Don Monson (one of the assistents when Magic Johnson was leading Michigan State to the 1979 title) was coaching there. They played a MEAN matchup zone and made it to the Sweet 16 in 1982. Brian Kellerman was their star player. They also had some success when Kermit Davis was coaching there. One of the best defensive games I ever saw was during the 1982-83 season when Fresno State beat Idaho 37-35. That was an unbelievable game.

Was bummed to get home tonight and find out my alma mater, Fresno State, had lost in the WAC quarterfinals 78-73 to a Boise State team we just beat about a week and a half ago. NIT here we come.

Watching the Pac-10 tourney right now. USC's Nick Young hit a shot with 10.7 seconds left to force OT with Stanford after the Cardinal missed a pair of late free throws that could have sealed the win. Cal has already knocked out UCLA in OT (bye, bye No. 1 seed, Bruins).

Mr. C
March 8th, 2007, 11:37 PM
Stanford just lost their leading scorer Hill to an injury midway through OT. USC has gone up 72-69 with 2:30 left.

74-73 USC with 1:10 left after Lopez made a great follow dunk for Stanford.

USC drive and a steal for a breakaway. 78-73 with 22.4 seconds left.

USC 83, Stanford 79 Final in OT. 26 points for Nick Young.

Freshman guard Daniel Hackett came off the bench to spark USC late in regulation. The son of former Syracuse star center Rudy Hackett (led the Orangemen to the 1975 Final Four), the younger Hackett hit a four-point play after Stanford had nailed a three seconds before at the other end.

It was on cable channel 10 here on Charter. I believe the 4 games were bounced around between 3 channels. Is everybody elses Wbtv channel 3's signal as messed up as mine. I went to bed when GA Tech. looked like they had taken control in the second half. Four terrific games yesterday.

The ACC was full of upsets yesterday. Today will not be the case. I think UNC, BC and Va Tech will all win easily. The UVA and NC State game is a toss up. It all depends which Wolfpack team shows up. With Atsure healthy, they are a top half ACC team and can beat anybody, so we'll see what happens.
