The Nation's Oldest Collegiate Wrestling Conference Tournament will be held March 2 & 3 at East Stroudsburg University. This year's fight for 'Easterns' supremacy should involve at least 5 teams with credible shots at winning the team title. If you took all the teams currant individual rankings, and assumed everyone finished in that order (and not including bonus points for pins, tech. falls or major decisions) there is only about 19 points separating the top five teams, in order: Cornell, Columbia, Navy, Penn and Lehigh.
Of course, Lehigh's 'm.o.' for years in both EIWA and NCAA has been to exceed their seedings. So the Brown and White will be shooting for some 'upsets' and aggressive grappling. EIWA will be sending 47 wrestlers to NCAA's: Top 3 in each weight class plus 17 wild cards as voted upon by the coaches.
Lehigh has sold out their allotment of tickets, so anyone still thinking of going will have to go through ESU's ticket office.
