Floyd Landis may retain his Tour de France title after all.

The French laboratory that produced incriminating doping results against Landis may have had several errors along the way, including allowing improper access to the cyclist's urine samples, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The same lab committed a similar error in 2005, which resulted in the dismissal of doping charges against against Spanish cyclist Inigo Landaluze...

Hope that is the case.

not surprising at all. Hope he gets to retain it, then rubs it in their nose. All this, if he's clean, has preventing him from ever capitalizing on his success.

are there any labs out there that don't screw up?

My brother works in an Army crime lab, so I can tell you that there's at least one other that screws up on occasion. xlolx xlolx

Seriously, he's told me stories. :eyebrow:

To me, a screw-up doesn't mean Landis wasn't doping. It's like escaping the death penalty on a technicality.

Or avoiding being set up. :eyebrow:

But isn't that unfair to Landis to make that conjecture? If that sample was tampered with, which could certainly happen if the sample was not properly controlled, then you're judging him based on a lab sample that shouldn't be used for anything - as far as we know, every sample that was handled properly was clean. Sure doping has been a problem in cycling for years, but that alone doesn't mean Landis was doping. You should need actual proof before you jump to that conclusion.

Kinda reminds me of the Duke lacrosse scandal...guilty before proven innocent

Yup, and not a shred of actual proof to say that they are guilty of anything. Smells are fine and all, but they normally aren't admissable into a court of law. xlolx

No credible evidence that Lance doped.

The crediblitity of the evidence against Floyd is shrinking daily.

I think that the most likely scenario is that the French, sick of Americans winning their beloved Tour De France, tampered.

I mean - how would some here feel if a Frenchie came and won Daytona 7 years in a row, then another Frenchie won the next year??

I thought Armstrong was associated with Discovery and Landis rode with Phonak? Two different teams. They were teammates a few years ago, but not in 2006.

I'm talking about their USPS days. Armstrong (I thought) doesn't ride anymore.

Anyone who all of a sudden thinks Landis is innocent because of the lab ought to remember this (quoting Wikipedia):

Landis and his spokespeople have put forth a variety of reasons, at various times, for his positive drug test. They include: naturally high testosterone, drinking alcohol, dehydration, thyroid medication, and a conspiracy against him. His defense now places emphasis on across the board criticisms of LNDD's methodology and execution, as will be elaborated on below.

Also, Armstrong has been conspicuous in his unnatural silence on this matter - unable and unwilling to defend not only a fellow American, but a fellow teammate when he was winning Tour De France's. You also can't get by the similarity of Landis' Tour win and Armstrong's "signature" for winning - once he hits the Alps, he's "unstoppable".

I have never been convinced of Armstrong's innocence, and Landis less so - but the fact they were teammates for 02-04 really (to me) warrants a much bigger investigation. :twocents:

They may both be guilty, but there is no credible evidence, IMHO.

And as for Lance not supporting Landis? Lance has an ego the size of Texas - he doesn't want to share the spotlight, plain and simple.
