wow...
I saw a guy get checked face-first into the edge of the boards in a Richmond Renegades game a few weeks ago. He bled so badly, I could see a massive red blot on the ice from my cheap seats on the other side of the ice.

The Ottawa coach is a dumbass though, keeping his stars on the ice after that

THANK YOU! for posting the video. I thought about checking youtube for it but hadn't done it yet. I LOVE my Sabres and that was awesome! How often do you see goalies fight each other? Biron skated all the way down the ice whipping off his gloves and ready to go at it. Granted, he got his a$$ kicked but that isn't the point. Peters was then beating the crap out of Emery and Emery just kept on smiling. Rob Ray used to be Buffalo's enforcer and he was standing in the middle of the two coaches while they were going at it. I know he wanted to be out on the ice right in the middle of it. I will definitely be at my local sports bar tomorrow night to watch the re-match. I don't think anything like that will happen again but it will make for such an (in)tense game. Wow.....that was so cool! Okay, I think I'm better now....;)

The best part of the whole fight is that Ray Emery is smiling the whole time :) (when he's beating the crap out of Biron and when Peters comes over and tries to kick is @$$). That was spectacular. Still not as good as the old Red Wings/Avs fights, but darn good nonetheless.

I love hockey, but hate the goon tactics. It's time to take a no-tolerance stance against fighting. It is nothing but an unfortunate sideshow that puts a blemish on an otherwise great sport.

I just can't believe that Emery's teammates didn't come to his aid once Peters came over to fight him. Emery gets props for not backing down, but, his teammates need to be there to back him up.

Hockey is nothing but boxing on ice.
What a foolish "sport".

A whole day. That took longer than I thought.

I'm with davek.
If NFL players fight they get major fines and possible suspensions.
If the NHL had balls, everyone who fought in the game would be done for the season.

Yeah, except that I actually enjoy the game when they aren't fighting. You probably would too if not for the fact that your favorite school doesn't have a team.

I enjoy the fighting. I think it is a great break in the action and gets the fans into it even more. :twocents:

I think it is absolutely GUTLESS for Peters to go after Emery, afterall, it was BIRON that called out Emery in the first place...If the NHL wanted to make a stand here, Peters would be shown the door for at least 15 games for getting into multiple fights without leaving the ice!

It's BS! the refs should have called a penalty on the check that started the whole thing and this probably would have been avoided.

Fighting happens once in a blue moon. If a fight happens in College Football, do you stop liking it, no, ofcourse not. It's a part of the game. Emotions can get the best of athletes at any level.

I find this intriguing because in several replays it looks as if he does nail him with the shoulder, not the elbow, although I think he MEANT to get him with the elbow...All in all, it was a very late hit, but curious to know why both refs didnt call a penalty...you knew they saw it

If a person doesn't like hockey or the fighting that occurs during the game sometimes, you don't have to watch it. I agree, fighting gets the fans into the game more. I personally enjoy watching the fights, even if it IS my team getting beat up. Football cannot be compared to hockey. They are two completely different sports with two completely different sets of rules. NHL rules allow the players to fight and the refs allow the fights to happen as long as the players are both on their feet. They hit the ice, it gets broken up and it's over. The fight Thursday night (which subsequently spilled over into the game last night) began by a dirty hit by Ottawa and no call was ever made. Lindy Ruff shouldn't have retaliated by sending his big players out, but a blantant hit (and no penalty) to the center/captain, Drury, got the players, coach and fans fired up. Drury has a concussion and got 20 stitches in his head and his teammates were not going to let that go. That's what happens in hockey. If you don't like it, you can use the time during Sportscenter when they show highlights to take a potty break or fluff your couch pillow! ;)
