NATCHITOCHES, La. - The University of Pennsylvania baseball program opened its season on the road Friday evening, faltering in an extra innings affair to Northwestern State, 1-2. Following a true pitching battle, the Demons broke the tie in the bottom of the 12th inning, scoring the game-winning run on an errant throw to third base. For the Quakers, the combined pitching of senior LHP Gabe Kleiman and sophomore RHP Mitchell Holcomb stand out despite the loss, as the two combined for 11 innings on the mound, 15 strikeouts and just one run.
