Chris Lowery, Southern Illinois

I also think Jim Les from Bradley should be mentioned. He completely changed styles from last year with the huge losses and managed to put a great team on the floor!

As much as I hate to admit it, where's BobbyMarlin.com on this list? Surprised to see Arrow not on the list. As for Early, ULM is finding some success after leaving the Southland for the SlumBelt (they could have been a factor in the SLC this year had they stayed ... but would they have gotten OE to coach there).

That list is ridiculous - how many other teams were picked to finish last in their conference and are now ranked 9th in the country (with a rookie coach)???

It's straight out highway robbery if Tony Bennett doesn't win

Umm, none of those coaches are ranked in the top 25 except Butler and SIU's.

I think only Lickliter could put up an argument next to Bennett - even then, Butler has had a hell of a lot more success in basketball than Washington State. Taking a run of the mill WSU team picked to finish last in the Pac 10 to the #9 ranking in the country in your first year as a HC is a feat no one else can possibly measure up to

I don't think they consider him since the Pac-10 is not a mid-major

I think we're sticking to MM top 25 for these purposes.

The Mid-Major poll is the most worthless poll ever created. No team should be proud to be on it and no one should care it exists. It is complete crap.

Defensive much? What do you care if there's an extra poll? You actually got a couple votes to be in the MM poll. You're not even on the radar for the others. xidiotx

That is the problem. The Mid-Major poll first off is in no way even close to being accurate. If people think a lot of those teams are better than UNI, or Bradley, they are seriously mistaken.

Also, I think it is pointless. Saying you are #whatever in the Mid-Major poll means NOTHING. I think if these mid-majors want to be taken seriously, they need to start thinking about more important things than a silly poll that makes these school feel content about being #23 on the Mid-Major Poll.

1. Where's Larry Reynolds of Long Beach State
2. Too bad Dick Davey won't win... sometimes the Coach of the Year isn't the rising coaching prospect but rather the guy who'll retire at the end of the year
