CLARKSVILLE — Suddenly, Dave Loos has a little more to worry about other than winning an OVC tournament championship.

The Austin Peay men's basketball coach has already directed his team to the regular-season title, and the No. 1 seed for the tournament. And this with three conference games still left.

Now Loos, who is also Austin Peay's athletics director, must scramble, with little time to waste, to find a new football coach.

McCray's decision to leave Austin Peay before its return to the OVC as a fully-funded scholarship football program this fall caught everyone by surprise, including Loos.

Now Loos must form a search committee, advertise the position, and answer a few dozen questions from the Govs' community on the direction of Austin Peay football.

Would not surprise me to see Haywood named. Austin Peay was heading in a positive direction and have lots of good talent returning. If they hire the OL coach as their new HC, if the team supports it, they will not have any issues in transitioning over...

Critical time for Peay. If they make the right move, things will continue in the right direction...
