I was touring Spain between Madrid, Valencia, and Barcelona for 3 weeks in 2000 during the Champions League playoffs- the first two weeks of March to be specific.
Going to the bars in those cities during the matches was a real special treat. They are every bit as excited and fanatical about those matches as we are about the NFL playoffs.
I traded one of my softball t-shirts for a sangria recipe with a bar owner and the recipe is now urban legend in the southeast.

I thought ESPN just said they were showing Barca-Liverpool tomorrow. Either way, can't watch. Thank goodness the Gunners are on today!
0-0 with PSV at the half.

Been watching it on my flat screen in my conference room.
Conservative game so far, as I expected. Henry was pretty silent until the last minutes or so. Rosicky had a nice shot that Gomes barely saved. PSV seems scared to take it up the middle on the attack. I have a feeling that both sides will settle for a 0-0 draw and then duke it out in the second game in 2 weeks. :twocents:

I'm disappointed that my Reds (Bayern) didn't win, but I think they'll be in good shape with two away goals going into the next match.

I can testify to that. I was in Germany during Euro 2004, and watched some of Germany's games in a sports bar. The Germans weren't even that good, and didn't do very well, and the place was electric the entire time. Definitely made me into a soccer fan

Man, did Arsenal lay an egg today. Maybe Champions League ties will be just like our Premiership matches: down on an early goal, then the late rally for the win. Ask Manchester United how well that 1-0 lead held up in the last 10 minutes :D

So Chelsea plays Porto tomorrow on ESPN2? What time?
I'll probably have to record it, cause I can't miss my Blues in the Champions League.

Arsenal was very flat...it was as if they showed up expecting PSV to just roll over and let them win. Seems that the Arsenal who struggled early in the EPL showed up, not the Arsenal who hadn't lost a match in 2007. PSV is quite adept at playing any game out to a draw, so Arsenal better be able to pick up their game in two weeks, or they are out of the CL. BTW, PSV was playing without their leading scorer, Farfan, and he should be back 100% for the next match.

What's the logic in showing Chelsea v. Porto? Barca and Liverpool is much more promising for a good game, IMO

My guess....ESPN Deportes is for the spanish speaking community, they might have more interest in watching Barcelona.

Very true, I firmly believe that soccer, especially when it involves top-flight teams like in the CL, is the toughest sport to predict
