With some Lehigh starters out of the lineup, there was some concern that the Eagles of American could make things interesting at Grace Hall tonight. "interesting" isn't the word. Mountain Hawks dropped the first bout at 197 when Freshman Jakobson lost to #12 Kasunic (a senior) when taken down in the last 30 seconds to lose 3-1. Jakobson had over a minute of riding time with the match tied 1-1, but after the takedown he could not get out or reverse. It would be the Eagles' only victory as Lehigh rolled to a 36-2 victory. American had a team point deducted for unsportsmanlike conduct at the end. NCAA champ Darian Cruz continued his unbeaten streak with fall in 3:30 and Nick Farro at 133, subbing for AA Scott Parker, also picked up a fall in under four minutes. Major decisions also recorded by Gordy Wolf at 165, Jordan Kutler at 174, and sub for #4 Preisch, Andy Price. Navy visits Sunday afternoon and is expected to make a serious run at Lehigh. This is longstanding rivalry that is approaching 100 matches between the schools with Lehigh holding slim 2 match edge.

Two days later, Mountain Hawks almost duplicate against Navy, who we anticipated would give us a stiff battle. Lehigh dominated, winning 9 bouts, for a final score of 34-3! Cruz with another fall and Karam with a sudden fall seconds before the end of a tight bout. Still without Parker at 133 and Preisch at 184, but opportunities abound for the 'youngsters'. This may be one of the strongest dual meet teams Lehigh has fielded in years. Historically, we have had some big stars, but a bunch of holes that would give up big points. This year, no big drop offs at any weights. Big dual with arch rival Cornell this coming Friday night at Cornell. Should be good.

Didn't know where to put this- didn't want to start a new thread. Just got back from Brookings. SDSU hosting Wyoming. Jacks were down 10-0, came back to lead 20-10, lost the last two matches but won 20-15. Really nice, involved crowd there.
Now I have to see a college team from Delaware in some sport in person and I'll have seen teams from all 50 states.

Thumper, you would have loved it. I'll have to find the attendance, but I was really surprised to see so many people there. Frost was like a wrestling match should be- dark on the sides with only the mat under the lights. The crowd was very involved and appreciative. One of the biggest ovations of the night was after the Jack coach raised the hand of the wrestler who had lost by a technical fall but didn't get pinned. The Jack coach is an absolute wildman!
Kingpin would have enjoyed the match for reasons that I won't drone on about here- I'll just say that SDSU still has some well put together coeds. :D

I have that on my calendar. I am the VP of the MSU-Mankato Touchdown Club- I hope that we have a Thursday night game that week so I can go to Fargo- our schedule hasn't been posted yet.
When I started coaching I had a book on the Delaware Winged T by David Nelson. I didn't know why Delaware had the same helmets decals as Michigan until I looked into it. Then another Michigan man took over- Tubby Raymond. I always thought of the Blue Hens as being Blue Bloods in college football.

Bono is really something special and has been the main driver of the attendance recently as well as the success. Really hope we keep him for a while. I saw there was 700 students and a total of something like 2300. The atmosphere in Frost is starting to gain some national attention. I would be down there this Sunday if we didn’t have family commitments stopping me.

True that the decals of Michigan's helmets were brought in by Nelson. My uncle played tackle for Nelson at Delaware from '53-56. However the 'unique' design was created by Princeton back in the 1930's. Michigan, due to a lot of national TV exposure, has sort of purloined the helmet design as 'theirs'.
