IIRC, it was on one of the 1660 post game shows.

Holy....

KC Keeler opening statement in the post conference.

"Their men were much better than my boys."

Who the hell would want to play for a guy like that?

OK, it comes across a lot different in the interview that it does in print, I don't think he was disrespecting his guys. I may have to go back and delete a post I made regarding this.

agreed .. deleted my disparaging post on other thread. Unfortunate slip of tongue the way it came out. But he repeatedly calls his players "kids and boys" .. more parental than anything. He handled loss with lot of class ... though a little too much deference for me. Still got to believe you and your players can compete, even after bad loss.

Keeler was speaking about his team paternally, thus "boys".
Referring to NDSU players as "boys" would be derogatory since no relationship/bond exists.
This is obvious, but did look a little strange in print.

other thread showed twitter post of player apologizing for the hit .. admitted it was bad, but unintentional .. it's football, sh-t happens that isn't alway intentional .. fast hard hitting sport with people busting their a-- to make plays.

Momentum is tough and rolls downhill. My props to Keeler and SHSU, they will be back to fight another day. They faced the press, praised their team and opponent. They are a quality group, and I wish them the best.

This.

It was a football play. It happens. It was an illegal football play, he could have gotten through the block without going low. He purposely went low, he wasn't blocked into it, yea, it ended up bad but the physical movement of the player from SHSU was no accident.

SHSU kept fighting to the end and without any of the chippy stuff that we've seen happen with other teams. I don't envy the players on the losing side who have to face reporters while still in their pads.

Agree with comments here. I was impressed that SHSU didn’t turn chippy near the end. The refs sure let them have plenty of opportunities (not blowing whistle) and the didn’t take cheap shots. I think that is a sign of good coaching.

This has to be one of the first times an opposing coach doesn’t start making a bunch of excuses about why they played so poorly. I think Keeler knows what it takes to get there, but I understand the challenge Sam has working in the south not being able to recruit big lineman like we can

I think that is BS also. there's plenty of big lineman here. I just finished watching Div2 Texas A&M Commerce win the natty, and they had a 300+ lb line

I don’t think our o-line was our problem, but I could be wrong.

I only remember one sack by the Bison. Sure we had some pressure on Briscoe several times that may have forced him into bad decisions, but I think the O-line was the best part of your team.

To me, it seems like form and technique basics are missing more than anything. This is where the Bison excel IMO. They are almost always in the right place, taking the right angle, playing sideline to sideline, ect. I think we have very athletic and talented guys compared to the rest of the FCS. The just need to learn football.

This. Time for a new D coordinator. I heard the same thing. If you watched the KSU game, they ran a trap play 3 times for great gains never adjusted. I was glad they didn’t run it on the last play. If they had we would have lost

NDSU's defense includes a quarterback and receiver who moved to the other side of the ball where they are more valuable to the team.

High school quarterbacks are often the most athletic kids among their peers, but most don't have the necessary talent for that position at the next level. That why you see so many as college WRs, TEs, RBs, and DBs. If they could put on 75 pounds more quickly there'd probably be more converted to linemen as well.

Hopefully it wasn't because they did a great job in pass protection (so if they aren't good, what does that say about NDSU's d-line?)

Maybe I was just seeing things, but it also looked like Briscoe started each play in the shotgun an extra step or two further back than normal which bought him just a little more time in the pocket.
