In just 12 months, VanGorder went from being hailed as resurrector of the Statesboro school's once proud program to a villain who bolted after one 3-8 season to become the Falcons' linebackers coach instead of working through the radical changes he implemented.

I enjoyed going to work there every day, and I really found my way with the pro player and that transition was a comfortable transition for me," VanGorder said about his experience with Jacksonville. "I like the fact that you were really dealing with football on a daily basis and the job was to get players ready for Sunday.

I thought he was hired to deal with football on a daily basis and get players ready for Saturdays. What do I know.:twocents:

"I am glad to see him go," Matthew Hammock, a freshman from Savannah, said at the time. "Hopefully, our new coach will come in and restore some of the traditions that VanGorder saw unfit for our program."

foreshadowing?

That quote was him refering to coaching in the NFL, not the NCAA...

I like the quote about how VanGorder admitted he was putting out the word that he wanted to leave. What a loser.
