Can't remember what thread I mentioned it in, but NDSU is a high-level G5 team...flirting with the FBS Top 25...better attendance than most of the MAC or Sun Belt. The only thing FCS about them is that they play in an FCS conference and only have 63 scholarships. Everything else is on-par or better than average for a G5 team.

SHSU is a pretty good FCS team.
NDSU is on another level...you might as well have SHSU facing off against Boise State or Memphis (this year).

I’m sure Brian Bell is a great guy and I give him credit for hanging in there during beatdowns, but this is exactly why Bison fans give SHSU QBs so much crap. They are hugely overrated due to playing in a soft league throwing easy TD passes every other play. The truth comes out in the playoffs when they are forced to play a team with a pulse on defense. You can bet any NFL scout remotely interested in him is tuned into this game as a barometer check. So far, no dice for him or PJ. Both supposed NFL talents look very “mediocre”, if I can steal a pregame line from a Sammy fan

I will openly say that I feel for sam fans. Getting to semis each year and then not having graceful exits has to be excruciatingly frustrating for them.

I think you're shortchanging how phenomenally great NDSU turns it on in the playoffs. I think that + the championships helping recruiting depth + the homefield advantage is what makes NDSU almost unbeatable.

Just as a baseline, I still think Wofford was better in 2017 than 2012, but the point differential last week kind of shows how the program has improved (when it was already great???). Further, there's plenty of examples of NDSU clobbering SDSU in the playoffs worse than they did (if they did at all) in the regular season.

The Playoffs are Bison time, and I'm judging that based upon how they play their own conference competition better in the playoffs. It's the definition of an intangible.

Begrudgingly, I'll agree with you. Not that NDSU had a big budget, more that kids will walk on to NDSU vs a low end FCS. Or will go to NDSU instead of NIU, or Wyoming. The talent, FCOA, plus Carson Wentz makes it hard for FCS teams to come close to NDSU.

I respect the **** out of NDSU, but man this is getting boring. Before they came around, there was a hint of uncertainty in every team, the best teams had clear chinks in the armor (at least when they played the big boys).

That's just not where we are now.
