Below is a link to an Interesting CPTV documentary on the Yale-Georgia Football rivalry. At the conclusion there is talk of Yale playing Georgia again in 2029 to mark the 100th anniversary of the first game played at Sanford Stadium in 1929, which was Yale vs Georgia.
I think its a great idea and it would undoubtedly get an NCAA waiver for bowl counter status due to its historical significance, just as the Yale- Army game in 2014 which marked the 100 anniversary of the Yale Bowl did. xprayxxprayxxprayx

Good idea. Hopefully the Ivy Presidents might have realized their decades-long mistakes that have had hogged Ivy football's reputation and its ever-present future by that time... xprayx

Dogs v Dawgs 2029.
Make. It. happen. Please!
That was awesome. Thanks for the link.
p.s. No waiver required. The NCAA permits one FCS game per year to count toward bowl status. Georgia regularly exercises this option.

Not for Division I teams that don't offer athletic scholarships, which the Ivy League doesn't. It's an outdated rule that needs to change, as The Ivy League now gives most of their players a free ride through needs based financial aid.

Ah, I didn’t know that. Thanks. A waiver would be nice although Georgia would not normally require a waiver to get to six wins. Who knows by 2029 though.
The bigger question for me is whether Yale would stoop to playing a non Ivy or Ivy, jr. School given the historical significance of the game?
Normally tickets to UGA games against FCS opponents are dirt cheap and plentiful. I imagine a game against Yale would pack the stadium though.

Yale better have good recruiting classes after the 2025, 2026, and 2027 seasons.

Do the Ivy "non-athletic" scholarships count as equivalencies?
Of course, by 2029, the college football landscape will be markedly different from today and the team playing in Sanford Stadium may be the AAA affiliate of the Atlanta Falcons.

The person considered to be the founder of the Univ of Georgia and its first president, Abraham Baldwin, graduated from Yale and grew up in Conn. Georgia's second president was a Yale grad too
I believe some of the Georgia campus style mimics part of the Yale campus. http://onlineathens.com/stories/061701/ath_0617019014.shtml#.WirBQLaZOqA
And, I have been told the following:
"“Bulldogs” Many old-timers say Georgia acquired the nickname, Bulldogs, because of the strong ties with Yalewhose nickname is Bulldogs. Georgia's first president, Abraham Baldwin, was a Yale man and the early buildings on campus were designed from blueprints of the same building at Yale."

Yale's forward thinking on this stands in deep contrast to Princeton's fumbling about the Princeton/Rutgers celebration game that seems like it won't happen.

They do not count as equivalencies. I’ve been told the reason why is because the financial aid scholarships apply to all students, not just athletes. It’s spliiting hairs in my opinion.

Potential for a great game.
The 1929 game sold out with a crowd of 38,000. I imagine the 2019 game would be a sell out as well, with a crowd of 96 to 100,000.

2029 is just simply too far ahead for me to even think about. The way I’m living I probably won’t be around for it anyway!

I’ll prolly qualify for one of those wheel chair access spots up near the lone trumpeter if I’m still around. Hopefully I will still have all my teeth and can enjoy a burger at the Grill before the game.

Is GAs academic profile good enough for you to take a beating from them? And why would Yale, a middling level FCS team without scholarships move the needle for GA?
The reasons for not joining the FCS post season just spin round and round don’t they.

Because of history. Watch the documentary film Bulldog vs Bulldog for the answers to your question.

I thought history was to be whitewashed. Wait until the Yale students find out Ga was segregated in 1929....

Princeton is now pursuing a non-conference scheduling that is similar to Harvard.

Plus the fact that Rutgers is now under the shadow of the B1G and its almost anti-FCS scheduling regulations.

By that logic, games with the service academies shouldn’t count.
Many of the people who will play in this game have yet to even start playing organized football.

For those who don't follow Ivy OOC scheduling, the above statement is not a compliment.
