Summary from an Owls fan: it's always hard to tell if we are off or the other team is good. I'm leaning towards the other team being good. Positive side of things, we held them and then scored. Down 14 and getting the ball first means anything less than a 2nd half opening score the game is over. If we see plank and get one more stop then our defense did their job. Our offense will have to take it from there. Right now, their D is doing great. Hoping for some of that second half against SD defense! Anything is possible?

There is no doubt that their D was ready. You couldn't sneak up on them like you may have done with JSU. Not over yet, but they may have learned their lesson against S Dak in the second half. Not sure they will relax as much as it appeared they did in that game. Still get a couple drives that payoff and force a couple three and outs and it is up for grabs. Tall order.

Our starter looked the same, he was not comfortable and it showed. I get what you are saying. He had some nice passes here and there and some that looked like he was drunk. Comes from lack of execution, plain and simple.

I guess this is why I prefer a traditional pro-set or WCO system where the QB has to make throws but can also rely on the HBs and FBs to get necessary yards when it is needed, but puts the ball in the QBs hands and allows the QB to manage the game.

Great response to score after the big time catch is wiped away w/ holding. Everyone thought Sam Houston St was gonna run away with in the second quarter but KSU has buckled down nicely. The offense has found a rhythm and I think they’ll score again, unfortunately, the Kats are about to go 75 yards and ice this game. KSU doesn’t have the answer to stop them defensively. Not enough pressure against a very accurate QB w/ talented weapons. KSU’s secondary hasn’t been tested much outside of Samford and it’s showing.

I get that, but that is how it is done. Sure few teams can do it, but that is the code. It is all about having 4-5 LBs who are better than the FB, HB, and QB while ensuring the trenches collapse in on themselves. The reason why Valley teams can do it, is that they are use to Power A Gap football where it is a slug fest so they are built to contain and clog up the lanes on Defense since the Offense for opposing teams is 300+ for weight so the DTs have to be 300 or so and DEs have to be at least 270 and agile built with strength.

I give all the credit to Coach Kramer and what he has done for the Strength and Conditioning Program by bulking these kids up and making them lean and and very strong.

1) called a timeout w/ 1:32 left. Dumb. Led that wind under a minute and then you run your fourth down play. Inside the 5 w/ a minute left and a timeout is a century.

2) that awful gimmick play wasn’t fooling Davidson let alone Sam Houston State. #15 has been eating for you all night. He’s a big body. Let him out work that freshman DB.

That said, Sam Houston State is the better team. Not by much. They’re similar in talent just at different positions and levels. Neither will be enough for North Dakota State. The Bison will roll next weekend

Heck of a game by SHSU tonight. We were outplayed in virtually every way, but I’m really proud of our effort - we never gave up. As many of you noted, your D line is better than advertised, and I was really impressed with the running backs. Our tackling was atrocious today, which certainly didn’t help, but credit to JB and the receivers for making plays. We go for it on 4th down a lot, but not that much, so kuddos to your D for containing the run and putting us in hard situations. Congrats, and good luck in the semis, SHSU.

KSU will continue to roll. Their enrollment is bigger than NDSU and SHSU put together. Just not sure if the TO will get them there.

Was at the game and it was typical Sammy M.O. Get the lead, let them back in, and pull it out of their *ss in the end. KSU played a great game. They could have folded but hung in there. Their small contingent of fans was loud and into it. It's been a weird season for us. As much as our defense has been maligned, they are the ones that have made the play at the end of the game to win in the playoffs.

Looking forward to another shot at the Bison... I just want to give them a game, maybe pull the upset, but at minimum not get blown out. Is that too much to ask?

Just rolled into the house from Huntsville. Great game. KSU has a very good football team. My thoughts...

* Defense gave up over 400 yds , but I thought they played very well against a tough option offense. PJ Hall was a beast along with Chris Stewart. The front 7 played very good. The young secondary really stepped up to defend the outside.

* I think the game ball should go to the offensive line. They played a phenomenal game. I was concerned that Kat O may not be able to run the ball effectively against their D, but man did they take care of business.

* I didn't think I would see another officiating crew as bad as last week vs S Dakota, but geez, the MVFC refs tonight were almost just as bad. And I am talking on both sides.

Playoffs is all about survive and advance. Kats move on the semi-finals. Kats are healthy for the most part, but the injury to Davion Davis is huge. I hope he is able to come back next week.

Sorry I am late on my congrats to SHSU. Kennesaw was able to slow them down a bit, but props up to Sammy's defense who stepped up and was able to tame the TO as well as close up the middle. Even though you have to put points up to win, it was your defense that was key to this game. Keep that defense and athleticism up, stay physical and you can take it all the way. Congrats also to Kennesaw for a tremendous run!!

While I wanted SHSU to win this to rep the Southland, I started seeing what injuries have done lately to the team. After our game with them early in the year where they had some tough ones and we were able to hold on for the win, watching this game I saw 2 Kats go down and I thought KSU would make a come back. Unless the Kats are healthy next week, I don't see them winning because they are not a whole team. But injuries are part of the game...

Horrible play-call.
1) called a timeout w/ 1:32 left. Dumb. Led that wind under a minute and then you run your fourth down play. Inside the 5 w/ a minute left and a timeout is a century.

2) that awful gimmick play wasn’t fooling Davidson let alone Sam Houston State. #15 has been eating for you all night. He’s a big body. Let him out work that freshman DB.


I watched a replay of this yesterday......I agree KSU's play calling the final 3 - 4 plays not the best it could have been.....no need for gimmicks there.....but the effort/heart was there...
