It's not even that loud. When it does not get above 110, I would consider it quite. That GaSo game after Brock scored on 4th and goal, IIRC it topped over 130.

How many of those hits can Stick take a game though? Keep doing it until they are forced to play pass defense and then get the ball out of his hands as soon as possible since I do not think he or anyone can take 5 of those bruisers a game and still be good.

This sounds like a weird thing to say, but this game is a matter of 3-5 plays from being competitive. I know that ifs or buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a Merry Christmas, it's just frustrating that turnovers are making Wofford look worse than we are.

We're just not executing. NDSU has great playcalling and they are doing what they need to to win this game. It's not over yet though.Not according to the game clock, no. But based on the momentum and the history of NDSU in the second half this year, I'd give Wofford less than 0.5% chance of making anything happen to get back in the ball game.

I hope they don't give up though. I like Coach Ayers, and I like Wofford as a team.

I won't even compare that to NDSUs stats. It's completely one sided in every aspect.

Our secondary plays zone as our base defense. I don't think we even run man. We basically beg teams to pass it on us, and we bank on our pass rush to cause mistakes. We don't let the big plays in the passing game get to us, and that forces teams to either do the dink and dunk, which causes them to burn clock and keep possessions minimal. To the credit of our defensive philosophy, it works 85% of the time. We only got burned on one play with passes.

What NDSU has done is take advantage of that zone, putting our safeties in a position where they have to guard two receivers. Stick is hitting them and having a great game.

So, our secondary is adjusting but doing so in a way that diverts personnel from the run game, and NDSU is taking advantage of that.

It's a perfect storm with this + the turnovers. NDSU is executing. To the credit of the Wofford coaches, this rarely happens. For instance, we shut out New Hampshire in 2012 with itxcoffeex

50 false starts? I'd like to know what the rate is during playoffs. JMU had at least 5 and maybe 7. That did more to stop our offense than the Bison defense. Just seems bush league. Obviously not the fault of the fans, but they could do something about the acoustics of that place but choose not to.

So, do you consider the NFL to be bush league? Modern NFL stadiums are engineered to maximize crowd noise. It's even a point of competition between teams (KC vs Seattle for instance)

The only team that might have a chance against GT would be NDSU. And I wouldn't bet on either team winning. Navy is as good as a top 8 FCS team. The triple option with the right players can definitely even give Alabama or Clemson trouble.

The thing about playing option offenses that's different from other offenses is that it depends on stuff like reads more than just strength on strength.

So, on one hand, we are rushing for like 4 yards a carry (or we were at half), but we've only run like 21 runs. With an option team, you need everything coming together on both sides of the ball to do well and you just don't see it today.


Also, I think you guys are demonstrating some availability heuristic. By every measure of baseline performance, NDSU is playing a better game than usual (35 points on 32 plays, for example) and wofford, not so much. No question NDSU is a better team, but if we're going to champion computer polls and mathematical thinking, this is an above average performance by NDSU.

What makes NDSU special though is that *this is what they do in the playoffs.* Every year they vary from "pretty solid" in the regular season to "great" but then they turn it on in the playoffs. Some say it's the Dome field advantage, but I think it's something more than that.

TL;DR it's not that the MVFC is head and shoulders better than everyone in the playoffs, it's that NDSU turns it on in a way no program I've seen in watching FCS football does.

So I'm not really offended by this outcome and it doesn't really change my priors. We're just another scalp.

You forget the part where I've said multiple times in this thread and another that NDSU is a better team. I'm explaining how they've done what they've done and I'm impressed. I think I have an insight or two as to how Wofford plays. This game is such a rarity, and there's a reason why, we rarely get outexecuted like this.
