Today at 1 pm, OK State comes to Fargo for the 1st time to wrestle the Bison. The Cowboys are ranked #3 and have 7 guys ranked including #1 Dean Heil at 141.

NDSU has 3 guys ranked:

133 - Sykora #13
157 - Ream #12
165 - Fogarty #15

NDSU might squeak out a couple of wins (157 and 197) but other than that this will be a rout. NDSU teams, under Kish, have underperformed and besides Steven Monk a few years ago, have not performed well at Nationals. SDSU, with their high energy coach, has passed the Bison in wrestling....xsmhx....unheard of in the D2 days. Local kid from W Fargo (Metz - Hwt) has potential to be great but he might be redshirting.

I'm making the trek down to Fargo to watch this one. Coach Smith is a legend and look forward to watching his team against the Bison.

S Dakota State has the #1 133 so far this year...xthumbsupx

Penn State is a machine and Ohio State also has a good squad.

Some other FCS teams that are very good in wrestling this year: Lehigh, Cornell, UNI, SDSU

Lehigh should be making a midwest swing next year as we usually wrestle Michigan plus another one or two on that trip. Would be neat to open up a new rivalry with some of the Dakota schools.

It would be nice to wrestle Lehigh. Good program.

As to the Bison match today....pretty sad IMO. Not in the loss because I expected that but the effort or lack of by the Bison wrestlers. Teams a lot of times take on the personality of their coach and NDSU has done that. I was never sold on Kish as a good coach for NDSU. He seems low energy and watching most of the duals lately, so is the effort from the wrestlers. Almost no attacking and none of them can wrestle from the bottom. The lone Bison win was even a poor performance. Ream (157) is the best Bison wrestler and he squeaked by a wrestler he should have taken to the woodshed. There were a couple of other matches that could have been wins but the effort was poor at best. Ream should have been an AA last year but was worked pretty easily worked out of the tournament. It was fun to watch OK State, they attack and keep the pressure on the opponent.
