Wow, that's surprising. I'm glad though. Gives the Bison another day to prep for the triple option.

EDIT: Just seeing the Saturday 11AM CT quarterfinal is on ESPN2 this year. That's disappointing since for the last few years that's been the only FCS playoff game on the ESPN mothership and ratings had been rising (NDSU/SDSU last year had nearly 2M viewers on average).

I am finally watching the game after taking two of my boys to Monster Jam tonight.

1. Boy does that NDSU defense look really good with a constantly health improving DeLuca and Tanguay.
2. IMHO Stick and Messingham are the keys to how far this team will go. Stick looks great at times and meh at others.
3. Cox is a stud and watching him the next 3 years will be a true treat.
4. It helps a lot to have a healthy Cole Davis as this will allow Stick to be able to use his legs will open up a lot.
5. A screen to #8? It has been a while since we have seen that but ahhh the memories. Please keep using that.
6. 8 straight trips to the quarterfinals.

First let me say congratulations to your team. I know my post was harsh and I should have tempered it with a few comments. Either way ultimately my comments won't be politically correct in that I'm not going to just throw out niceties about USD to blow smoke up your backside. Lets be honest it is what it is a non scholarship team that plays a creampuff conference schedule. Congrats for being able to be that team that can tower above the rest in that conference but it still is what it is. Now to my comments about NAU getting hammered I maintain that shouldn't happen to a team who has the ability to offer schollies to attract what is supposed to be better talent. Again not to say that USD didn't have some nice players that couldn't play for a scholarship team like NAU or whoever. But truth be told there is a reason most kids get offers vs. those who don't and that is a talent gap difference be it slight or large player for player. For example yesterday at the game I was looking at the program the NCAA puts out at all these games. Looking at your DL it's clear they were undersized which is why NDSU had the easy time on the ground that they did. As to why wasn't the score higher it's been pointed out already by BFNWMN our coach took the foot off the pedal. What good does it do to humiliate kids? It serves no purpose we knew we were moving on. Better question for you is if your team is a playoff caliber team even if outmanned why only 3 points? That was off a turnover and given good field position otherwise I doubt you would have gotten that. Anyway bad day or whatever excuse you want to use your team had no answers. NDSU moved the ball and scored with little defensive opposition.

Again congrats on the season (I doubt you will believe that was meant sincerely). Wish your school/team would go scholly football and try to get into the Big Sky then I think things could get real interesting for you.

1. Very true. NDSU rotates a lot of DL and I suspect they will against Wofford now to keep them fresh against that TO attack.

2. Agree that sometimes I scratch my head at some of his mistakes but he is still a very good FCS QB. The kid is a winner...something like 31-3 as a starter...xeekx...xnodx...I'll take it! Trouble with us Bison fans is that we jump all over his mistakes but need to praise his very good play. He had some nice audible calls in yesterday's game. He's a gamer and I'll take him over most other QBs in the FCS.

3. Cox is a beast for sure. Kramer will probably add another 10-15 lbs on him and he will be a one man wrecking machine the next 3 years. Has a nose for the ball like DeLuca.

4. ES will have to run the ball against Wofford. They will load the box like every team until the passing threat works and ES is running to the 2nd level.

5. Would be nice to see more of the screen game for sure.

6. Impressive run by the Bison.


Wofford looks like they have a pretty good front 7 on defense so the Bison OL needs to come to play. Their defense is really solid:

Wofford defense:

21 points/game

205 passing/game
110 rushing/game

Two very good defenses: NDSU #1 in total defense and Wofford #20. NDSU #2 in scoring defense and Wofford #30.


Game will probably go pretty fast with both teams wanting to run the ball and both very good at it. Wofford doesn't have a Breitenstein (sp) this time around but the backfield is all solid and the QB can throw it when needed.

Looking forward to watching the TO come back up here.

Agree with what you said. USD had a good season and came to play yesterday. They were outmanned and it showed. I like their coach Lindsay, no BS and tells it the way it is. They had some good players but across the board their depth is not on par with the Bison.

Yeah that was a head scratcher. I haven't been overly impressed by his play at times this year. His consistency is absolutely an issue. Which QB shows up next weekend? Not to derail this too bad....I had a couple of "Africanized" hives in a bee yard and must have been stung over 200 times.....xeekx....the venom attracts other bees and the cycle keeps going. Went and got the cyanide powder (illegal now) and killed the whole yard. 20 stings/kg can kill a person.

I prefer politically incorrect / honest discussion. I'm a USD fan, but ain't from California. Many of the USD players have scholarship offers to other schools. There are some players that are attracted there for the location and academics. Like the Ivy League, your paperwork doesn't read football scholarship, but merit award. USD costs about $67k per year and most players get about 2/3 of that covered. So we can get some really good players, just not enough to build much depth. The tough admissions standards also shrinks the pond.
Best of luck to the Bisons in the ship, I'd like to go but with tickets starting at $200 a pop, I think I will spend that on steaks and margaritas and watch on the big screen. Go get em.
