They may not be exposed, but our Softland Conference will likely have more teams in the quarterfinals. I would take SHSU and UCA over Stony Brook any day of the week. And save the “yall got killed by JMU talk”. This is about UNH. SHSU needed some big stops to hold of Richmond. I’m assuming you didn’t watch the JMU Richmond game? The top of the CAA is, well, top notch. Elon, SB, JMU. After that is a cluster of mediocrity. UNH is right in the middle. That is exactly how the SLC is too, save a NC winner like JMU. Rick Holt might be one of the top 5 D-linemen in the country. He's been absolutely dominant the past two years with very little recognition. His partner Sosnak is pretty damn good too. Our LB's Kheul and Dean are fast and athletic. Next year will be an important year for our program, all of those guys are young.

UNH controlled the line of scrimmage from start to finish. They were being ultra conservative on offensive but managed to put together those two 2nd half drives.

No one saw this coming. I know UNH fans what respect but UCA did not look good. Their line play was not at a Top 10 level.

The Wildcats are a proven program but they still had a very much up and down season. The game against CCSU was ugly. This feels a little like 2013(?) when they lost the semifinals.

I haven't watched UNH this season, but that is what everybody was saying about their defense. I guess I am a believer in that UNH D....


They always say Defense wins games... CAA teams seem to have legit defenses this year.

I am utterly dumbfounded by this result...... I recognize the Southland is not a great conference overall, but UCA was a really good team this year. I didn't watch the game because I was at the SHSU game, but what the hell happened?
They got outscored. FYI people, you get outscored you lose. You score more, you win. Very simple math, they teach it at NDSU if anyone is interested.

So looking at the box score looks like UCA gave this one away? Outgained UNH 2 to 1 but had 4 turnovers including a pick 6. Amirite? Any UNH fans want to set me straight?

There were 5 turnovers in the game, and all were the result of good defense and not gifts, but the pick 6 turned out to be the game winner. Credit UNH's abilty to pressure Hildebrand and disrupt UCA's passing attack.

I was shocked by how nice it was in Brookings today! It was pretty brutal for the 'Nova game last year. I think a blizzard would help UNH honestly because of their defense and OL. It's not like a team from northern New England is adverse to cold and snow!

We were bigger and faster period (With the exception of #22 for UCA!). Usually that equates to winning against the opponent. Our LB's were hawing down their rb's and WR's on stretch plays and our interior DL absolutely manhandled the UCA offensive line.

The Southland is no better than the Patriot League outside of SHSU. Yes, a few other teams can get a win here or there in the playoffs, but it's a numbers game when you consistently get 2-3 teams in.

The Patriot League was really bad this year. Yet, the 4th place team Holy Cross routed UNH 51-26. The Southland should get no more than 2 teams and certainly not 2 seeds. There are far too many pushovers in that conference that inflate mediocre teams' records. The Southland is not alone. The playoffs were watered down significantly when the field expanded to 24.

UNH controlled the line of scrimmage from start to finish. They were being ultra conservative on offensive but managed to put together those two 2nd half drives.

No one saw this coming. I know UNH fans what respect but UCA did not look good. Their line play was not at a Top 10 level.

The Wildcats are a proven program but they still had a very much up and down season. The game against CCSU was ugly. This feels a little like 2013(?) when they lost the semifinals.

I wonder why? I think it was because CCSU was a pretty good team that won the battles in the trenches vs. UNH.

UCA - 34 rushes for 73 yards

UNH Rushing vs. Opponents
CCSU - 37 rushes for 61 yards
UCA - 46 rushes for 106 yards

CCSU just couldn't move the ball in the air with a backup QB against UNH. The Blue Devils had just 9 completions on 8 attempts and 3 INTs.

There were several of us who questioned Central Arkansas in another thread and raised the issue of their lack of quality competition and significant wins outside of beating Sammy.

In response, we were told that UCA was "clearly a top 4 team" and if we had watched them AT ALL we would know this, and that UCA was pretty "****ing good".

Guess that issue is settled.
