Why doesn’t espn bother to stagger their games once an hour from 12-8? Is it really that hard to minimize conflicting games on at once? You would think it’d increase viewership.

On ESPN it showed that Alabama State originally had a game against Cheney for the Turkey Day Classic and it was cancelled. Anyone know the story behind that?

Looks like Kennesaw State has the best crowd between the four games going on right now.

That is why conferences are hesitant to add them out of the Big South since they think they are looking at Slum Belt in the near future to add to the GaSo and GaSt rivalries when Idaho and New Mexico leave. They have big donor money and it is damn near close to Atlanta so the TV market also helps. They just renovated their stadium (10K seats) and no reason to believe they would not consider moving to play temporary in a different stadium if they upgraded to 20k seats, but that would take some serious renovation.

Interesting. I saw they had a nice little stadium, but it looks like it is shared with some soccer club.

They did the renovation just for football, but if they are looking at moving up, which some think they are, then they will need to play elsewhere for a full season or two in order to demolish to seating and add 2 tier bowl style seating.

On ESPN it showed that Alabama State originally had a game against Cheney for the Turkey Day Classic and it was cancelled. Anyone know the story behind that?
Cheney financially couldn't afford to travel to even play in this game. Cheney right now has less than 1,000 students and is on the brink of closure. This reflects our AD dropping the ball more than anything. We had Miles College who is an in-state D2 opponent with a damn good following scheduled for Turkey Day in 2015 and 2016 and instead of our AD working on the 2017 opponent 2 years ago he waited until AFTER the 2016 season to do so. We were close to bringing in FAMU for the Turkey Day Classic but their AD decided against it late in the process which left us scrambling for an opponent so we ended up with Cheney who canceled. Edward Waters is a NAIA HBCU out of Jacksonville, Florida luckily was available. Now the discussion on moving The Turkey Day Classic which is also our homecoming up a week to draw a better opponent has heated up again. For 90+ years our Turkey Day Classic opponent was Tuskegee but since they've opted for the D2 playoffs we now play them annually on Labor Day weekend. If we move the game up a week the Turkey Day Classic would more than likely be against a conference opponent. Whatever happens we need to avoid a disaster like this year in the future. The 15,886 has been the smallest Turkey Day Classic crowd i can remember.
