Good! I hate baseball. And being an employee of Time-Warner, I am glad to see them go!

Good to hear it also I guess, I used to love the braves, but under time warner they have kind of floundered, I'm hoping this new buyer will pique some interest.

Note to the posters on this board:

Killtoppers90 has just revealed himself as a communist. :eyebrow: :eyebrow: :eyebrow: :eyebrow: Please keep this tidbit of information in mind when reading all future posts from Killtoppers90.

We now return to regularly scheduled state-controlled programming.

I don't know about "floundering". They still won the division each year, until last year.

Braves fans are, apparently, a lot like Griz fans.

Anything less than a NC is unacceptable.

Not only that, but he lives in GEORGIA, which is also the name of a former SOVIET Republic. Coincidence???

Well, maybe the pocket book will open again and we can get a first baseman. Need a left fielder, too.

I am happy that my Braves are out from under the heel of this giant corporation. Have been a Braves fan for a long time and remember the bumper stickers that used to be everywhere that said "Go Braves! And take the Falcons with you!"

Apparently Time-Warner had to threw in $1 billion to get Liberty Media to take the team off their handsxlolx

I'm glad they sold em. I wish Turner would've never sold them to begin with.

Don't think Liberty Media (and it's network of holding companies) isn't a giant corporation, itself. They own everything from QVC and the Discovery Channels to DirecTV, Cingular and T-Mobile. They're gigantic.

I'm glad the sale process is over for the sake of knowing the fate of the team. They say it will be transparent and no changes will be noticed, but I hope that doesn't include spending.

I don't think the Braves need to throw around a bunch more cash, but another $10-20 million in salaries would go a long way. Ted Turner would spend the money when there was a need, hopefully, Liberty media will do the same. If not, I hope they go ahead and trade Andruw Jones so they can get something for him instead of letting him walk for nothing.

The thing I like the least about this deal is that it's not "local ownership". I think if someone from Atlanta that lived there was running the team it would be better. But, for some reason, Time-Warner was not interested in negotiating with Arthur Blank's group. Oh, well...

An extra 10 million would certainly help, but the Braves still had the 8th highest payroll last year. The braves issue is they have most of there money tied up in 5 players (Mike Hampton $14.5, Chipper Jones $13.6, Andruw Jones $13.5, John Smoltz $11, and Edgar Renteria $10). Hampton is the highest paid player, and needless to say, he hasn't been worth it...so far. Heck, I think Colorado is still paying part of his salary too. Then again, they are getting absolute steals with McCann's (333,500) and Francoeur's (384,500) salaries.

As much as it pains me to say, Andruw probably needs to be traded because I seriously doubt they are going to be able to sign him. Then again, if the Braves are looking good and Andrew is doing his usual thing, maybe you keep him and try to make a run.

With all that said, I'm glad to see the improvements to the bullpen. Wickman should be steady in the closer roll this year. Gonzalez is one of top lefty relievers out there. If Soriano can return to form after his arm injury, he's going to be very good too.
