lol
A dub is a dub,
1) Wofford (I mean, they are alone at the top here)
2) Samford (Kelvin McKnight is a monster; Furman, Samford and Wofford are all close to each other, but I gave the nod to Wofford because homerism and the best record)
3) Furman (they ran into a team that could match them blow for blow)
4) Mercer (throttled by Bama; they are the Furman of last year IMO)
5) Western (I would put them at 4, but they lost 3 of their last 4)
6) Chattanooga (great defense. bad offense)
7) ETSU (improved)
8) The citadel (more flawed than originally thought)
9) VMI (bad team)

Just the eye test from a season’s worth of football. But in my opinion, the two best teams in the SoCon played last night in Homewood.

As always, power rankings are difft than standings
Woff won the SoCon - congrats !
So standings:
Woff - 7
Sam / FU - 6
Western - 5
Mercer - 4
Citadel - 3
Chatt - 3
ETSU - 2
VMI - 0
power?
Sam - beat both other contenders. strong finish
Woff/ FU
Western / Mercer
Citadel / Chatt
ETSU
VMI
for what is worth - SoCon should be strong next year. fu is v young (all defenders return - ALL). Samford has almost entire O return - that's scary. Hodges, McKnight, entire OL, other two recvrs. RB.. ALL. Also their Buchanan list guy Gooden (who I think is big part of why they beat FU and Woff returns) though they lose some on D. But to return that entire O? ETSU is getting better. Citadel should be better on O. Western and Mercer both had young QBs
We need the SoCon to show out v OOC next year so we are back to 3 / 4 in playoffs without a sweat.
Playoff wins will help. For NOW, go fu, Woff, and Samford !!!

On the topic of Wofford, we're probably going to look like a different team next year as we replace 2-3 DL and a couple linebackers and Joe Newman takes the reigns. More option, less passing. No idea how it'll turnout if I were to guess I think Samford should be the favorite to win the conference, followed by Furman and then Wofford

Oh, I’m sorry. I’m doing CURRENT Power Rankings; latter part of November. Were we supposed to be doing October Power Rankings instead?

Says the man who ranked his team based on Oct when they dropped 3 of the last 4? Consistency my man. Everyone sees through your spin.

The only Power Ranking used by the FCS Selection Committee exactly agrees with where I have “my TeamS” ranked in the SoCon. In fact, my Top 5 line up exactly with theirs. Some differences in the bottom half, but who really cares about the bottom half?
* Besides, YT agrees with my 6-9, So you KNOW that’s PURE SCIENCE!

Are you talking about the NCAA’s computer or YT?
Either way, I first saw the NCAA SRS when it was posted here...
All I've ever heard the committee chair say this ranking system is used for is for determining SOS but it is interesting to see how this may have affected their more controversial selections.
http://www.ncaa.com/rankings/football/fcs/simple-ratings-system...2 hours AFTER I started this thread.
& YT posted after me here, so you know I wasn’t copying off the results on his slide rule.
C’mon, y’all know ‘my work’ better than to even dare suggest that. The mind of FUBeAR is a highly independent entity!

I really like this list. I even like Mercer where they are. I think their strength of scheduled banged them up this year. The first three teams are very close, just Samford was fortunate enough to win versus those other two this year. Nice list sir!

My Power rankings:
The Big Three
1) Wofford - hardware on the shelf
2) Samford - they won it on the field
3) Furman - fought to the end
Everybody else
4) Mercer - Bobby Lamb has accomplished a lot, but needs to find a way over the hump
5) Western Carolina - Is their field over an ancient burial ground, there seems to be a curse on this team
6) Chattanooga - Their record isn't impressive, but they stepped it up the last month
7) The Citadel - young team making young mistakes. I looks like recruiting may be Mike Houston's weakness, hopefully Brent Thompson is doing a better job.
8) ETSU - A much improved team, and teams 6-8 could easily be switched around, but needs to step up on offense
...
9) VMI - would probably be better off in the Patriot or Pioneer. It's a young team and should improve, but I don't see them passing anybody else on the list.
Predictions:
Furman beats Elon by 10
Kennesaw slips by Samford by 3
- rematches are a bitch
A Samford victory would not be a surprise, an Elon win would.

Down the line, this should be a fun conference to watch next season. A lot of young players in the league in 2017.

Without digging in too deeply, it seems Wofford is going to lose a lot of guys to graduation, and may be the team most impacted by roster turnover. Samford graduates a lot of their defense, but returns Hodges and McKnight. Furman loses Blazejowski and some other key guys, but returns virtually everyone on both sides of the ball.
I think the only starting QBs graduating are Blazejowski, Goodson, and Allen.
