These are for things from two years ago, but I think it's worth noting anytime an NCAA program is penalized by the NCAA...

NCAA penalizes McNeese St. men's basketball, track

LAKE CHARLES, La. -- McNeese State men's basketball team and men's and women's track and field programs were penalized Thursday for major NCAA rules violation.

The teams may participate in conference and postseason tournaments or meets. The NCAA accepted all the self-imposed penalties recommended by the school.

"These events happened a long time ago," athletic director Sonny Watkins said. "The former assistant men's basketball coach and former head track coach were both asked to resign in fall 2003 and we have moved on in both programs."

So did the NCAA actually penalize McNeese State? It seems to me that they just accepted all of the self-imposed sanctions that the administration had imposed.

NCAA did a bit more...which are major blows, namely the loss of two scholarships in a sport that has limited scholarships as is...

"The NCAA Committee on Infractions levied two additional sanctions -- a loss of two women's track scholarships for 2007-08 and 2008-09 and extended the probation period to February 2009."
