I agree that this will be the closest JMU/Elon game ever, but when the closest game of Elon's CAA tenure has been a 32 point loss, that isn't really saying much.

I live about 15 mins from Elon. Not a lot of talk about this match up

JMU should win on the strength of their defense. They execute man to man pass coverage more effectively than any FCS team I've seen in recent memory. This also facilitates an effective pass rush by denying quick outlet passes and forcing the QB to take more time to allow receivers to get open. Elon plays an effective 3-3 stack defense and they did a great job of pressuring and containing the QB vs UNH. However unlike JMU, they leave a lot of seams and openings throughout the secondary that UNH was able to exploit. Elon was not able to establish a running game vs UNH so I doubt they will against JMU. JMU's man to man coverage was able to blanket our receivers most of the day so I suspect they will do the same vs Elon. Both UNH and Elon have a solid corps of receivers, it's hard to say, but IMO UNH's are better. Giving Elon a small boost for the home field, and acknowledging that JMU's offense has not seemed nearly as potent as the 2016 team, I'm picking JMU to win by 14.

This game will not be that close. And regardless of what the computers say, the Delware and ECU games are/were tougher for JMU. FBS is FBS, even a bad one....and Delaware is ultimately better than Elon....even the computer says so, but I don't need a computer to tell me that.

Mr. C is in the house for this one. First of three games I have credentials for today. Heading to Georgia Tech-Duke and NC State-Wake Forest later.

Been a sloppy game so far with lots of mistakes by both sides. Elon has been playing ugly and winning all year and that seems to be what we are seeing today.

Things I've noticed so far:

-Elon's defense has been great in the red zone. Two huge stops. Only giving up 3 so far is impressive.

-JMUs offensive line is really good. Schor has had a clean pocket and the inside running game has been a tough one for Elon to stop so far. I think Houston should have rolled out the beef and went for it.

-JMU's defense has been solid. Linebackers fill running lanes. A couple missed one one one tackles. DBs have yet to really be tested.

-Holy Penalty Flag, Batman!

I fully anticipated we would have a dominant performance like we did today. I wasn't convinced Elon was as good as their record indicated and they were barely winning against far worse teams than UNH or JMU.

The receiver jumped as high as he could and it still just grazed his longest finger tip. Can you catch many balls that are that high above you? The refs got the call right. A flag should've never been thrown to begin with.
